I own an 87 T2 a 88T2 and am a previous owner of a 80 GSL and a 86 se. Normally im not on the computer all that much and i dont post often on any forums, I never said i was a know it all i was merely stating a fact earlier with initial quotes on the motor ITSELF. And please do not not insult my intelligence, i havent insulted yours. Some of use can get great prices on parts and if you know anyone that needs a 3rd gen motor i can get low mileage j-specs for under 1,000+ shipping. Not including the harness and ECU. And yes sinfest was banned. Good riddens to bad rubbish there. I would have to verify the exact price on the 3rd gen motor. And to help with matters one of my best friends is stationed at kadena thats how i can get my parts extremely cheap. He is allowed to send around 1,000 lbs a month home aboard military aircraft.

Seeing as how im not a no-it-all, do you have to switch the upper intake manifolds on a 3rd gen like you have to with a 2nd gen with a j-spec?

I'm sorry if I came off like an @$$, I wasn't trying to insult you or your intelligence, I however don't feel or like being called a troll.
I was only pointing out that the average 20B swap for the the average person is going to be much more expensive then the figures you pointed out.
Since you can get parts for cheaper this will help in your situation, but most people can't get deals like that.
I also feel if your going through so much trouble to do the swap you might as well go all out an get a nice big BB single turbo and stand alone ECU.
A BPU RX-7 (FD) can easily match a mild 20B engine swap hp number wise, with only a difference in torque.

I never said i would do a 20b swap. And i agree a BPU can easily match it and run anyone alot less than a 20b swap. Plus it lessens the dangers of turning your rear end into mush(FC or FD). I dont believe in sawps. I like my car to come with the motor it was intended for. I'm all for upgrades though. If i keep my 7's (which i doubt) im just gonna go the light road of a hybrid and FMIC and Halltech and 720's. My wife is pressuring me to get rid of them and get another family car(Mazda 6) I have too many playtoys and have to get rid of a few. Sorry for the troll comment. I was just a little angry. Hope we dont go on a bad note

i think its impossible to pay less than 10k for a 20b swap.

lets say you get a good deal on a motor, 3200...thats just the short block right? you'd need manifolds, standalone, turbos...not to mention, the engine's been sitting for a long time, may need a rebuild. there's so many things you need to do...and it all adds up. 10k doesnt even sound feasable.

but hey if you CAN do it, that's great...just make sure you let us in on the deals too. =p

if you want more TQ and stay with an inport then just drop in a j-spec supra motor/then you will have all the power and reliability

(stupid) yeah thats all great in theory but its been done and it doesn't work worth s***. possibly one of the worst swaps done to a 7 actually. here ya go. read up and listen to all the wonderful things they say it "can do" but while your reading realize that they don't actually state any real performance #'s nor do they have any 1/4 or 0-60 and so on times for the car. the car is a joke, they tried and failed. and they don't even show the abortion of a hood they had to make for the thing because the engine sits higher. gotta do your research before you open your mouth.

those numbers are great and all, but i want to see how this thing takes corners now that it is front heavy and does not have the good weight distribution that the RX-7 was designed with. Having a car that can only do well in the quarter mile takes all the fun out of owning an RX-7.

There's a thread on rx7club.com that discusses this. A user with a LS1 (soon to be supercharged) against a 13BT-REW single turbo MONSTER. There's a $1500 dollar bet involved...and I can't wait to see the outcome.

WOW were should i start............ first off whats this about putting a V8 in a 7....are you fukin nuts. the rotary motor in full stock trim with all the acessories doesnt even come close in weight to a short block V8( by the way short block means just the motor with no accesories or manifolds). i can pull a 13b out of any car by myself without an engine hoist, try doin that wit a 350ci. anyways the power you get from a V8 you can get from a rotary and with higher rpm's, plus the money you put into swaping in a V8 you can build a ported rotary wit plent left over. regardless if you want V8 power go buy a domestic with the motor in it already. ohh and by the way im running consistent 11's and i've hit the 10's a few times with a car that cost me a total of 10k to build and that includes the purchase of the car. now all of you guys arguing about how much a 20b conversion will cost you, the motor, tranny, ecu, harness all under 30k miles will cost 3500 dollars to anyone( i get a much better price ) motor mounts, installation, tunning and all labor should run you into the 7-10k depending on the chassis u decide on.

ohh and one more thing if u do the swap i wanna be the first to run ya.....gotta spank ya for desecrating the 7(moon)
