Rusted Rotor + TSB = RESULTS

That's the benifit to being hourly. these dealers should bend over and kiss some ass, The customer has the final word when the survey comes in the mail.

2003 Rustq

I have a 2003 P5 and I also have rust on my hubs and rotors. The TSB does not cover the 2003, but it's obviously the same problem everyone else is having.
Is it still possible for the dealer to fix this without getting a huge fuss out of them?

Thanks

is it essential that we take care of this rust problem? does anyone have a pic to show us exactly where the rust is exactly... I'm not that mechanically inclined so when you say hub or something else I don't really picture it.

Rust problem is cosmetic and looks ugly esp. through the aluminum wheels. There's nothing mechanically wrong with the rust. Give me some time and I'll see if I can dig up some of the other threads... or you can use the search button!!

Stupid question : what does TSB stand for? I have a 2003 that I bought in September it has that nice rusty look to it already!

TSB=Technical Service Bulletin.

Mine hubs were rusty when I picked it up. My salesmen said it would wear off when I used the brakes. I got in the car shaking my head. I just painted them myself.

Like p5mica said, i have a 2003 and the TSB only mentions 2001 and 2002 ... i guess our dealerships will use that as a reason for not doing it ?

anybody had this fixed on a 2003 ?

Here are some pics from mine...

There are also some benifits on doing it yourself too. You can paint them whatever color you want, and you don't have to fight with people who when you talk it all goes in one ear, out the other, and don't give a s*** what your car looks like.

From what you guys are saying, I dont think they want to budge. Screw the service mgr. tell them you want to speak with the owner. People try that s*** all the time at my dealership, and 9 times out of 10 they get what they want.

I painted mine when I had the calipers off painting them. Stupid me ran out of paint, and one didnt get painted and I havent had the time to paint, it looks so ugly compaired to the other three.

wow! that is a lot of rust! now I know why you guys are all pissed off! yes if mine looked like that I think i would b**** at my dealer too. good thing mine aren't like that in any way, so even if I told the dealer about it they won't do anything right? cause there is no rust on mine at all.

Coqui258 and cbcbd, thank you for posting pics

well at least your wheels came off

me too! haha. I have 3 of mine painted (ghetto job though) and the 4th is unpainted because I couldn't get my 4th wheel off (the hub center is very, very tight on the rears, I even had a thread on this). Hopefully will be repainting everything including the rotor hubs soon, 'cuz its getting ugly...

Where do you buy the high heat paint and also what did you use to get the rust off before painting?
Any auto parts store will have high temp paint. To get the rust off just sand it as much as you desire (well, at least to get the rust off) - could be sand paper, a sander, or a dremel with a sanding attachment, you get the idea.

Brake cleaner and degreaser might help to make sure it's completely free of anything before you paint it.

Search for "painted" and "hubs" and you might find some threads from guys who painted theirs.
