Hey guys, I picked up a '08 3 hatchback after doing some research here and other places.
I plan to do very few mods to the car until it gets a little older (only 48,000mi on it now). It's a DD and I would like to maybe do the occasional autox with it. I already have another Mazda toy for more track oriented fun(yes)
Anyways, a good friend of mine sent me some RS*R Down springs from Japan for my birthday, and I can't find anyone that is running them. After researching them a little bit, they claim to lower the car around 20mm in the front and 15mm in the rear with spring rates of (F)3.48kg/mm and (R)3.47kg/mm. That's around a .8inch front drop and .6in rear, with ~196lb springs all around. Does anyone have any experiences with these springs? They seem to have very similar specs to Racing Beat ones, so maybe experience with those would be good too.
I am impatient when it comes to car goodies sitting around my place, but I want to pair these with some Koni yellows or get some custom valved Bilsteins specifically for the rates. Will a spring with this mild drop kill the stock shocks like I hear other springs do?
Also, I've been looking at other springs and they all seem to have differing rates for the rear, or don't care to list rate, just drop. So guys with Tein S.Tech/HighTechs that have higher spring rates in the rear (~241lb) would technically not have to run as strong of a rear swaybar as I would to keep a neutral handling characteristic, right?
Thanks for the help guys! I'm trying to learn as much as I can about FWD platforms to make this car an even better DD
