Rough Idle

The last couple of days I have been battling with this Intake and this thing is really pissing me off. As of now I have F2 CAI which I converted to a SRI. I reconnect the negative battery plug, started the car up and let the car run. It goes through the rough idle which is expected cause the ECU is relearning. After that it goes smoothly. My issue....after I let the car sit for 8 or more hours, I start the car up again and I get the same rough idle I got when I first reconnected the battery. It feel like the car is about to cut off cause its struggling to breathe. It goes through this for 20 to 30 seconds then goes back to normal. I checked and rechecked the connections, reset the ECU again and still it happens. What causes the car to keep going through a rough Idle? I'm going on day 3 with this issue since the intake is on the car. Did I forget to connect something?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would check the wires on the MAF sensor to make sure none are ripped and make sure all the couplings are tight. Also you can spray some carb cleaning to clean out the intake....just make sure you dry it all up. And you can use some MAF cleaner on the sensor, you may have gotten dirt on it during the install. just some suggestions.

I know with my F2 CAI, my car ideals higher in N then if its in gear. Have you tried taking it back to the CAI style and see if that works.

Intakes are designed how the manufacturer intended them, so perhaps converting it to a SRI has made some complications.

I first got the problem once the intake was installed. IMO..whether its a SRI or CAI that doesn't matter. Just starting the car after several hours it idles rough like its about to shut off then it idles smoothly. It seem like its relearning the intake again.

coo. I'm guessing Autozone or advance auto would have MAF cleaner?

if you think its bad now, wait intill it gets cold out, it will stall and you have to hold the gas down at 2200-2500 rpm for 10-30 secs.
if it gets cold were you live, ive had it at the dealers a couple times and they cant figure it out, but i havent put the old intake back on to see if thats the problem.

ms cold air intake and i cleaned the maf/iat sensor

I'm starting to think its the F2 intake I have. I'm hearing different things about the intake since its a 3inch pipeing. But I'm a little big lost since other 3 members have this CAI but aren't have the same issue I am having.

yeah i have the f2 with no problems....i have had it for about a year...and before that i can an K&N typhoon.

hopefully cleaning it out will help you.

After reading tons and tons of threads I think I notice what my issue was. I didn't install the reducer. (bang) But overall I'm not satisfied with this intake.

my suggestion....get a k&n typhoon. you can have it as a CAI or SRI (and its made that way) and if has by far the best mount and bracket hook up then any of the others.

the only difference its you don't get that nice 3k+ increase that the f2 has. with the 2.5" intake the others are...you get it all in the low range.

yea. I'm also looking at the Mazdaspeed CAI as well.

^ i would compare the prices of the AEM and Mazdaspeed. They are the exact same intake just rebadged. But if you have a picky dealer then the Mazdaspeed would be better.
