Rotary Amuse' FD3S Track Toy

thanks.

my rotary has has higher standards then honda's. i am aiming for vettes, porsches, vipers, and ferraris. around corners, of course. none of this shifting in a straight line nonsense.

I dig the polished aluminum/CF/radiator setup shown below...I plan on getting a custom aluminum intercooler, radiator and tranny cooler in the near future...:D

Welcome, looks good! It seems we're getting a wealth of new rotary members here.

Yeah I noticed our Rotary Community here is slowly but steadily growing with a variety of very cool Rotary Rides like Rick's RX-7...(2thumbs)

you got my build theory spot on, Anotoine. i wanted to build a well rounded car keeping all aspects of the vehicle in mind. from safety, handling, performance, and reliability. once all the functionality bits are done, ill take care of the looks. ive been playign a game of compensation and balance. i've added something to one aspect, i would throw off another. i have seen a lot of cars with a huge single turbo without supporting mods or safety equipment or even upgraded brakes. some people don't understand that you need more then a lot of power to have a fast car. it works for some people, but thats not how i want my car to be. it might not be the fastest car, but it will be strong as a whole (eventually). thanks.

Good stuff...Yeah, I think we've got similar moddin' styles...Having a very balanced ride is more important than having one with just insane power or handling capabilities...It's all about the whole package IMO.

Another important point as you mentioned is having a "strong" setup...Even if I don't plan on doing serious track time...I want a setup that can handle track time in addition to other forms of intense driving...The Endurance Factor is a big deal in my book.

thanks magnum. i am a member of many RX-7 clubs, primarily RX-7Club. i like this one as it is a mix of a lot of different Mazdas, so it is a broader niche.

Happy to know...(thumb)

thanks Derrick.

i love HKS. a little pricey, but well worth it. i keep telling myself the T04Z is too laggy for me to dodge the price tag. think you guys could get your hands on the HKS V-mount? i am going to need a more reliable track set up, so the front mount will have to go. i like the angle of the kit more then others. plus the included adjustable panel is cool.

Hmm...Talking about V-mounts...I wonder if I could run such a setup in the Cosmo...There is plenty of space but I would have to change the factory setup quite a bit and I'm not sure I want to do that...Hmm...Going to let that idea simmer a little...:D

i just took a look at CorkSport's website. looks like you guys have redone it since i was last there. it's lookin good. lot's of good stuff. we'll be in touch for parts in the future.

thanks again.

CorkSport has been an Authorized Vendor and supporter of the Mazda Forums Community for YEARS...Supporting the AVs & AMMs that support this Community is ALWAYS greatly appreciated! (2thumbs)

thanks.

I hear ya...In my case...I want the Cosmo to hold it's own with ANY high performance vehicle...(laugh) I do occasionaly come accross an RX-7 but I have yet to be harrassed or challenged by any of them...A few times, I've even had RX-7s move out of the fast lane for me on the highway...Hopefully it's because they have some sort of mutual respect for a fellow Rotary Enthusiast and the Cosmo (I'm a big RX-7 fan myself) and or maybe it's the 20B...;)

thanks guys.

Antoine- take the time to decide on the proper set up for cooling. I am really kicking myself for my decision, since i am going to have to sell the Front Mount and get a V-mount. i have seen some pretty cool tranny cooler set ups mounted in the rear of the car. The eventual dual oil coolers will be fighting for air and ducting room with the brake ducts, so i think i am going to go the route of a rear mounted tranny cooler set up.

the cooling panel I have is a Carbing piece and the Carbon Fiber was cut and added to properly seal off the radiator a little bit. not 100% efficient, but i agree that it looks pretty cool.

you hit the nail on the head with a strong build. your car is only as good as it can last. I would rather have a car making 400whp that can last all day and can actually be driven on the street then have a car making 500+ that i can barely use or handle. i say that now, until i get the bigger single and get bored or used to the power (laugh). speaking of turbo hunting, i've been 'shopping' (or what i have been calling it while i've been in school 'dreaming') around for the perfect single turbo and there are a lot of great options (mainly A-Spec's GT35R or 500R kit.) Perfect response, power band, and numbers. i can't wait!

i am sure you could run a v-mount on your Cosmo. get a kit for the 13b and have the piping custom made. i don't see why not. Best of both worlds for the Intercooler and the radiator (again i kick myself for not getting this set up in the first place!) you might even find a V-mount kit from Japan.

i have never seen an Cosmo in person, and i would definitely get out of it's way and do my best to flag them down and make them pull over. i would pull over for a lot of reasons; from it being a Cosmo, to being a rotary enthusiast, to the rarity, or just because it's a B A car that i would love to check out.

i will have to check your project out.
