So YOU'RE the guy that made me have to come back the next day!!! DAMNIT lol

Yeah, you got a new car, so I think its time to let it go.

I just feel bad for the poor soul who is going to buy the rat car now after they patch it. It will fail later down the road and they will blame the new owner because "he must have cut the wires and taped them back together.."

Did you write down the VIN?

It should be on his orig paper work.

I wish I were as lucky as you. Then again, I would've just given them the car and taken my money back to get a totally different car from a different manufacturer.

Oh well, at least you got a new car and some extra bank from it.

I can understand wanting to tighten the thumbscrews on this dealership. But on the other hand, they do seem to have made it right. I think I'd side with most of the replies here & say to enjoy your new car & move on. You've gotten justice, which is more than a lot of people get in your situation. Pushing for revenge could be bad car-ma. ;-)

Do you techs see part numbers everywhere like us parts guys do? Every hyundai on the road i see, i can name oil filter, air filter, timing belt, how much oil it takes.

its like a really pointless superpower.

The only problem I have with this guy going any further is that he already threatened them that he was going to report it, they paid him $100 which he took and yet he still is going to report them...now who's shady?

exactly. he should just leave it at that.

was there any real proof that showed that this happened while the car wasnt in your ownership? I find it hard to believe you went almost a month not noticing you had no reverse lights.

I'd let it go, they made it right with you. You wouldn't think a brand-new car would need that much inspection, who expects rodent damage?

I expect anything now. I mean when you have the most random s*** go bad on a car that's 8 months old, you start to expect anything.

tech: "sorry sir, your headliner seems to be peeling off its backing."
me: "you're joking right?"
tech: "no, we'll have it replaced under warranty for you"
me: "would you like to get my money back while you're at it? Or maybe actually fix something I noticed?"
tech: "I'm sorry but we don't have power to do that in service you may want to talk to the sales department about that. unless we can duplicate the sound it made then we can't do anything about it."
me: "great, that's the best news I've heard all day. You know, just keep the car. When you fix something that's potentially hazardous to my well being, call me. Until then, keep it. I don't really want it back."
tech: "I'm sorry but it's all we can do until we duplicate the sound."
me: "wonderful. have a great day."

I've had that conversation with my dealer but it wasn't about the headliner, that was just an example. I can't actually remember what the part was.

lol you remember the conversation in that much detail but cant remember what the hell the problem even was? Sillyness.... (crazy)

I've had that same conversation a couple of times about my front suspension and my various rattles, soon to add my transmission to it. But I just don't care what it was since it's like...everything these days.

Yea it is kinda silly that I don't remember it. Oh well, it's on the paperwork at the house. :P

Thanks to everyone for sharing your 2 cents. I appreciate your input. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do anything further about it (report to DMV vs. complain to Mazda)

I understand that the damage was not their fault, but I felt they could have handled the situation much better. The things that still bother me about the situation:
1) not a single person in the dealership said anything like i'm sorry you had to deal with this mess
2) they broke the law. they put a new NY inspection sticker on a car they never inspected. in principle, this is really bad. many wires were destroyed under my car- some going to my radiator fan, transmission, etc. The tech told me I might have overheated. Perhaps someone else could be injured if this happens again in the future.
3) $100 is not enough to compensate me all the time I wasted. I lost money in the deal
4) They are selling my old, chewed car as new now on their lot! How messed up is that?

All I wanted was my new MS3 without all this headache. If they would have been nicer, more accommodating, and willing to actually make up for my lost time I'd be a little happier. I can't believe that stealership is going to sell that other car to someone else.... Whatever. I love my MS3

No, if they're selling it to someone else as brand new that is royally ****** up and you should report them to DMV and Mazda. Then request more money for your time right before you report them. If you get more money then you get compensated and then you get to see them get shut down(ish).

IDK, all that would tick me off too. Especially them selling it again as new. but it is your time and you should do what you feel is right. No matter what.
