Well, its finally coming up to that time of year! Rock Falls recently posted the 2007 Racing schedule and the first day open is going to be Saturday April 7th! This day is going to be open for a fun day- in other words, anyone is welcome to come and race... bikes, sport compacts, and muscle cars! The first actual SC day is scheduled for Sunday April 15th (rain date is May 12th).

Here is the link to their webpage if you want to view the full schedule:
http://www.rockfallsraceway.com/schedule.shtml

I think it would be way fun if we could get as may people as possible from the MN crew to go out there- whether you plan to race or be a cheerleader, that is up to you.... It's $40 per person to race (must have a helmet) and $10 to spectate... damn good for a whole days worth of entertainment. Time trials usually start at nine so if we can get a list going of those who are interested, we could meet up and group cruise down there... I posted this early so as many people as possible can plan ahead!

Other SC days are :

Sunday June 10th
Saturday July 29th
Saturday September 15th
Sunday October 7th

Fun days are: September 22nd and October 6th

$40 is a little much actually. BIR is a much, much nicer track and is $25/5 spectate/watch. I'll still probably end up going to rock though still.

You should totally race. I pulled a 15.8 out of my ass on all season tires and no previous experience drag racing.

if i got a 15.8 i would cry and sell my car. no offence, it just seems like i think it is like 1000000000000 times faster then it really is. its so depressing

EDIT: I actaully read your whole first post and its a fun day! I might be in with my brother and some others.

right on... yea it is open for anyone and everyone..... i have never been to a fun day, but i have heard from others that it is fun cause even if you're not racing you see some cool cars come out.... and its the opener.. lots of cool winter projects gone wrong lol.

Spring is here however Mother Nature appears to be playing a trick on us and bringing in cold and unseasonable wintery-type weather conditions. As such, Rock Falls Raceway is regrettably CANCELING the Fun Race scheduled for this Saturday, April 7. Please tell your friends or anyone you know who was planning on coming out so we can avoid any unnecessary travel. Thanks.

On a brighter note, next weekend we would love to have you join us at the $69 Test Day on Saturday, April 14 or the Sport Compact Race on
Sunday, April 15. Here are the details:
Saturday, April 14 -- $69 Test Day

IMPORTANT TECH UPDATE: Effective 1/1/07 Snell 95 Helmets will no longer be valid for use in drag racing. Please check your helmet and if you have a Snell 95 you will need to replace it prior to competing in any competition at any NHRA sanctioned racetrack. The Snell 95 helmets are expired and no exceptions will be made for use of this model of helmet if you are running 13.99 and quicker in the 1/4 mile or 8.59 in the 1/8th mile. Acceptable helmets are the Snell K-98, Snell 2000 and Snell 2005. Please also remind your fellow racers to check their helmets as well!! Thanks.

I will be going for sure- I say we meet in the Walmart parking lot off of 94 and Woodbury Drive between 6:15 and 6:30 am. I want to be on the road by 6:30. Who else is planning on going so I can see who I should wait for?

Rockfalls was a blast today! Perfect weather. Slightly cool (perfect for non FMIC force inducted cars) yet nice enough to be outside in a t-shirt. It wasn't that busy for opener either- I got 7 runs in before the bracket racing.

My times were awesome too! Drastically better than last year... either I became a better driver or Sirius Satellite radio is an amazing hp mod cause my first run I pulled a 15.4 (last year I had a very hard time breaking a 16.0- I finally got a 15.9 on my last run). After, it was a pretty consistent 15.3 with the exception of the run I missed second.

On one of my last runs, I raced a buddy of mine and it was very clear in my perifrial (sp?) vision that I was ahead of him.... however it was a very close race. When I picked up my timeslip, it said that I got 15.5 and he had a 15.1... WTF? I am thinking something was messed up cause I KNOW I was ahead of him- he agrees that I beat him.... so maybe I actually pulled a 15.1??? I don't know how that works but even if he was ahead of me, there is no way I was .4 seconds behind him.

Other than that, it was a blast.. too bad the next SC day isn't til June. Hopefully by then I will have my hardpipes and MBC installed with 8 psi... maybe I will be able to pull a high 14 :)

Your time doesn't start until you leave the line. Thats why you can win with a slower ET. Take a look at your time slip. Your reaction time is probally ~.4 seconds quicker then his.

What was your 60' and MPH?

this was just during time trials though... my reaction time was half of what his was. if i leave the line first and am still ahead of him at the end of the track, wouldn't i have a better 1/4 mile time?

this actually happened on 2 occasions: 60' and mph are as follows:

me: 60' 2.426 him: 2.426
me: mph 89.58 him: 92.35

second time around:

me: 2.486 him: 2.374
me: 90.43 him: 90.17
