Robbed gas mileage!

Ok, I'm going to change the spark plugs, get a k&n cone filter and reset the ecu. My only question is how to reset the ecu. Is it done by simply removing the battery terminals for a period of time? Anyway, what are the best spark plugs out there.
Can help you with the plugs...just go to Autozone (or other store) and ask them. I believe the owner's manual lists the appropriate type.

As far as resetting the ECU, simply disconnect the terminals and let the car sit for 10-15 minutes. I believe that is all you need to do...maybe pump the brake pedal a few times to completely drain the system. Then reconnect. It will prob. run rough for a little bit, but should self-adjust.

Just search "ECU reset," and you should get a more detailed, accurate answer.

Or you could just leave it alone...it will eventually (I'd say within a month) adapt to its new surroundings.

17 inch wheels will make a difference -- unless they're lighter than the stock wheels. Any excess bit of weight needs to be accelerated which makes the engine work more...hence lower gas mileage.

2003.5 all stock soon to have 12k miles, have yet to do any maintenance except for oil changes and fuel system cleaner

I get very consistent 26-27 mpg 100% city driving (15 miles per day) with intermittent use of AC

On long highway trips cruising at 75 mph I always get over 31 and as high as 35 mpg with intermittent AC also

I guess I got one of the good ones? (thumb)
