Road rash!!!

So I washed my car this weekend and I have a GAGILLION little specks on my hood from flying rocks and whatever else. I just ran a search on this topic but couldn't find anything conclusive on what's the best remedy aside from new paint job. I don't mean to start the thousandth thread on this but is there anything I can do to cover it up aside from literally covering it up with a bra? If it comes down to repainting does anybody have a guesstimate on how much a hood and bumper job could run me? And should I ask for a Mercedes job on it or anything special so I don't have to get it re-done every year? This is really frustrating....

you can try paint pens....they usually work pretty well for the small scars. i remember checking on them awhile back but i can't remember the website address. short of that getting the car painted is the best option...should only be 300-400 bucks for the hood and bumper including labor and materials.

Holy crap, there is a place about 10 miles from me that does it for 200-250 includes labor materials the works, and that is the WHOLE car! They do a damn good job too....

If you are worried about that sorta stuff though...chips, just rinoline the car. A guy did that where I live to his off road truck, he got sick of scratches from trees...so he drove down the road to the local rino liner and said "SPRAY THE b****" so they did...looks pretty cool too.

Ack! I guess I'll need to repaint it if I can't get ahold of the paint pen. How good is a body shop job compared to Mazda's? I'd hate to have to do this every year. Bah! :mad:

as long as the shop's rep is good there's no real difference. they all pretty much receive the same basic training and use comparable guns. just look at some of the cars the shop has painted recently and that will give you the best idea of quality. you shouldn't have to have it done again for awhile if you use quality paint like dupont or martin senor from napa.

If you have the touch up paint you can easily fill them in yourself. Don't use the brush though. Use something smaller like a toothpick where you have a little bit more control of the paint. If it's a deep chip then apply the paint in layers allowing it to dry for like 20-30 minutes then adding another layer until it is filled.

It's a lot more cost effective then repainting your car over and over again.

I bought some stuff from Walmart a few weeks ago...

It's that color match Turtle Wax that includes the "chip stick" (it looks like lip stick)....

Anyways, it's $7.50 and works great. You fill in the deeper chips with the "lipstick" and use the wax to fill in minor scratches. It worked GREAT on my black mica.

I liked it so much that I bought the blue for my bike.

I tried the turtle wax stuff but it was only the wax, we lost the stick. Right now I'm about to just say **** it and get a CF hood anyway. I've always wanted to get one. I can deal w/chips on my bumper but on the hood it just looks bad.

There was some stuff on here and it was a system that you used with your touch up paint, started with an L... Ly something I think. If anybody knows the stuff I'm talking about post the link because I haven't been able to find it on any searches.

hey thats what i did
