Rishie's FITMENT RECIPE

Well the Fitment was right, I got 215/40-17's on Voxx FA rims, 17x7" .I also have lowered the car with H&R springs and everything fits just right, except for the passenger side rubs when going over large bumps or dips in the road. It doesn't bother me much, but I am going to switch to the Eibach springs so the rear of the car comes up as bit. Th lowering on the rear with the Eibachs is only 1.2 "s as the H&R's is 1.3 ". I'm hoping that should give me the neccessary clearence to banish the rubbing.

What does everyone think will it work ?

no.

Eibach Pro kits are lower in the rear(1.8" drop).

All the sights i've visited have shown the eibach drop specs to be 1.2" in the rear and 1.4" in the front. Are there any springs I can buy to raise the rear up a little ?

Maybe they changed the design but they used to lower the rear more than the fronts if I remember correctly.
You could get ground controls or the mazda speed springs(1").

LittleRedWagon5 , why don't you just roll your rear fenders? It isn't hard to do and it'll save you money. Having only 7" wide wheels, you shouldn't be rubbing all that much. Raising the ride height by a fraction of an inch is not going to solve your problem. Changing out your springs is a costly and unnecessary move which will yield no real gains. Take your rear wheels off and tap the rear fender lips (inner lip) up gradually with a hammer.

would a 15x6" w/ offset: 45 and a 205/50/15 rub on a protege?

you should have no proble. I had a set of 17x7.5 Subzeros with a +48 offset and 205/40 tires that got no where near rubbing

hey rishie or anyone else,
i have bought some spoolin' lowering springs and as you know its a 2" all around and im wanting to throw some 19"s up under my mp3 still on the tockicos that it came with. will i have any problems?? would i still be able to squeeze off the 7.5" wide wheels or would i need to get less width? and my last question is, would a 215/35ZR19 work on m y mp3?

Rishie, quick question. I would like to stuff some 15" or 16" by 8" wheels under my 2002 Pro. DX. If I lower it at all it will only be around an inch. Would this be possible? I currently have 16" by 7" wheels on it now with by my measurements approx. 50 to 52mm of offset. There's only about 1/2" to 3/4" of clearance between the inside of the tire and the struts in the front, but no rubbing yet anywhere. If this is possible do you have any wheels in this size that would work? If so could you link me to some pics. You seem to be the guy to go to for wheels, heard lots of good things. Thanks.

I am looking at getting the ASA EM9 :: 16x7 rims, and using the stock 195/50R16 83V M+S tires which came on my P5 untill i can afford better tires... The reason i want to go with the 16''s is because i do plan on lowering my car eventually and do not want any rubbing (plus this way i can use the same tires i already have)...

I guess my question is this, since i have not been able to find out as of yet what the offset is for these tires, would anyone happen to know if i will encounter any problems with these...

also, i have found a place online that sells them for $119/each with a shipping of $65 for all of them, which comes out to about $540... Would you happen to know of anywhere in the San Jose California area (i noticed RND is in this area also) that sells these tires for a comparable price? Everywhere else i have seen them online sells them for around $175 ~ $200 each...

and just out of curiousity; how much would RND charge to mount the tires on the rims and install them?

Thank you for your help!

cheese, I looked at those wheels and I'm sure you won't have any problems with rubbing. They aren't deep dish or anything so you should be ok. Nice wheels too.

one quick question......i have a protege es with ground control(3 in drop) and i want to put 18x7.5 on it.....will it fit and i know the bolt pattern but what offset should i use? i am willing to roll my fenders also to go lower!! any suggestions are greatly appreciated!! is my car dropped 2 in on the stock 16's http://members.cardomain.com/joka1
thanks

Rishie...

Two quick questions.

1. The Mazda Speed Protege is running 215/45/17, would your current fitment recipe work with the 45 series tire on a P5?

2nd question, Do you or anyone know if the RH Evolution CP8R rims come in a 5 lug pattern, with the correct offset to fit the P5? My research has turned up nothing but blanks...

I just came from a new car owner orientation meeting at the dealership I bought my car (Rick Case Mazda, in Gwinnett Co., GA) & I'm getting my finances straight to start working on my P5.

Any info you all can provide, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here's a pic of the rim. It weighs 12.5lbs...

Yes it would hypothetically. I would however stick to a 205/45/17 on the P5 if looking for more ride comfort. I don't know why, just that's what I would do. It's one of those things that just makes sense in my twisted wheel and tire junkie mind after so many years of doing this.

I think it's cause that's what the MP3 had. ANd the MSP has more power so I can understand why they would change the tire size.

Rishie

It works cause i run a 215/40/18 and that's the same in the 17" size. So go for it bro. No fitment problems. Just lose some "off the line" jump. It's cool at higher speeds though. Less shifts on teh freeway at full throttle to get to that speed. hehe.

THE CP8R is a 4x100 wheel only from all the research i've done. sorry bro. get some volks man. I can hook you up on those and IMHO they're way better than the RH's and Racing Harts. Another, I don't know why things. But just Know.

Thanks Rishie...

I was afraid of that. I'll have to take another look at the Volks. The only thing that caught my eye was the LE37T's & the GT N1's. Do they come in silver? I'm still looking around. I'll let you know if I see something else. Again Thanks...

JUst starting out..

And I'm looking around at different rims, and I've read the fitment guide and have a couple of other quesitons.

First, with a 17x8" rim support a 205/40/17 tire. Or is the tire too narrow. How about a 215/40/17.

Second with that 17x8 rim fit our cars with a +50mm offset? Or is 8" just too wide?

Thanks,

Ryan

The 8" is too wide. Might work in front with coilovers but not in rear. That width will support that tire but barely. However the wheel is too wide so it's pointless.

Sorry, Rishie

I have FD3S 16,8 +50 wheels Sean and I will use in the front of the Proteges and the stock 16,6 protege wheel in the rear.
