When I went to the autoshow I only noticed the AUX port. i really didn't notice the bluetooth on the steerign wheel.

At least this is good news only if the bluetooth thing is a dealer option on the CX-9. Because if it is, that means that they can make it an option for the CX-7... or I'm just hoping thats the case.

Anyone know if they Navi and stuff is the same on the CX-9?

I don't get the Mirror thing either... BUT

THere is some validitity to the argument that Mazda COULD have offered at least some of this stuff for the CX-7, even if they were options to pay a bit more for. I would have PAID for iPod and Blue-Tooth, without a doubt. I'd probably skip the hot blonde though ;)

Cx-9 not a turbo- cannot mod it well and mitus well not- Price is a hell of alot more vs base cx-7 and base cx-9 You pay for the features Mazda could of went ape s*** crazy with options on the cx-7 then it would price itself out of the market. Like the prior post I agree 100%

If I hear one more thing on the turn signal mirror you think they make/break the cars appearance I'm not in Europe, thank god, I don't need my CX-7 looking like a Semi driving down the road with all the damn lights they have on the J-spec ones geez.. give me a break buy the CX9 mirrors and wire them up to your cx-7's

they're NOT lit up when you're just driving down the road!
they are BLINKERS, meaning they BLINK when you turn on the blinkers

Rabbit, first let me commend you for your thorough, in-depth knowledge of the new Mazdas and the spot-on advice that you have offered to so many. (RTM) I can only wish I was half the typist that you are, Dammit!!(ughdance) Anyhow, I imagine Mazda's reasoning is to generate more interest in the CX-9 as an upgrade from the CX-7 in more ways than sheer size and cargo volume. But who knows, I'll bet they will offer a V-6 in the next gen seven and maybe some of the other goodies. BTW, the "Hot Blonde's" gender was never specified!:) Ace

I think the designers of the CX-7 made it pretty clear that a V6 simply will not fit into the CX-7 engine bay, and certainly not the 3.5l. So I don't think that's gonna be happening anytime soon.

LOL, Blondes aren't my type ;)

Thanks for the compliments!

I imagine you're partially right - but some of it was also just poor planning... and if it creates bad feelings in their customers it could lead to lost sales. Right now, I'm not feeling real great about the "Technology Package" and I actually wrote a complaint letter to Mazda about it. I think it's a shame that it's lacking in some really basic ways. Lack of iPod support is just one of my complaints (albeit a big one), and really, they could have put a simple auxiliary plug in the console and it would have appeased a LOT of people. It it just plain silly not to offer it in a 2007 car that sports a "Tech Package".

I can tell you, I won't be interested ever in the CX-9, with it's Ford engine. It appeals to a different crowd in my opinion... more the soccer-mom family types (no offense meant to anyone!) -- as the years chug by I'll be downsizing my vehicle, not upsizing, and I'd imagine that might apply to a lot of us (considering Mazda "demographic" on the CX-7 -- it was aimed at 30-somethings). I'll want GOOD FEATURES, sporty handling, but I won't need even half the cargo space as I get older.

While the CX9 share some design curves with our CX9, I'm still happy to have the CX7 and I love and like the overall design of the 7 more than the 9. The 7 has more sportier, edgy look than its big brother. Doubtful.... just look at the front end of both and you'll see what I mean. CX7's front is derived from the sporty Mazdaspeed 6 while the 9 is moreso derived from the MPV and/or Tribute.

Yeah, the lack of iPod integration is a nuisance but it is not enough of a factor for me to consider the CX9.

No regrets here on my choice of going with the CX7.

I agree that there are features that are missing that shouldn't be despite it being a first year model, but no show stoppers.

I have a feeling all of the options most of us want will be available in the 08 or 09 models.

Here's my list:
Lighted vanity mirrors
Autolocking doors once the vehicle is in motion
Mirrors with turn signals
AutoHeadlights that stay on after turning off the vehicle.
Memory seats and mirrors
Power Passenger seat
Dual climate control
Radio Mute capability and CD pause on Tech model
Locking glove compartment
IPOD and Bluetooth though I don't have a need for either one

I also think they need to consider a non-turbo 4 for those that want to get better mileage and a CRV like driving experiance.(shocked)

Lighted vanity mirrors - would be nice but could really care less

Autolocking doors once the vehicle is in motion - agree

Mirrors with turn signals - please, no.

AutoHeadlights that stay on after turning off the vehicle - why? If you want them on after you turn off the vehicle, force them on yourself. It's not something I'd want to have to worry about accidentally leaving on... defeats the purpose of "auto".

Memory seats and mirrors - would be nice

Power Passenger seat - could care less

Dual climate control - sure, not show-stopper for me though

Radio Mute capability and CD pause on Tech model - uh, DUH, yeah. Stupid for any radio, let alone one in a so-called "tech package" to lack these! Don't forget a truly decent random function too!

Locking glove compartment - would be nice

IPOD and Bluetooth - as part of the tech package, DEFINITELY. Again, it's called the "tech package" for cryin' out loud!

non-turbo for people who want fuel efficiency and sluggish driving - sure, why not, but I wouldn't buy one for the same reason I didn't buy the CRV ;)

I like the idea of the turn signal mirrors from a visibilty/safety standpoint.

As for the autoheadlights that stay on I am referring to the type that turn off after 1 minute or come on when the doors are unlocked with a remote. You would not have to worry about them being left on. Having that feature helps to illuminate your path in poorly lit areas. A good number of low cars have had this feature for years. In my Jetta I can actually program the amount of time the headlights stay on along with the sidelights or turn the feature off. In fact most of the tech features in the Jetta are user programmable including how the doorlocks work. Funny but I remember originallly being told I had to get the dealer to program the doorlock feature but it was user programmable.

On a car the size of the CX-7 I don't think turn signal lights on the mirrors improve visibility or safety... I think they serve as more of a distraction honestly.

But your autoheadlight thing... now I see and it makes perfect sense. Hadn't thought of that ;)

Well, I think this autoheadlight off is already in all Asia CX7. Mine does that and it scare me when the first time I notice it does not off when engine are off. The sturn signal mirrors is also on all Asia model. :)

The CX-9 is the same as the new Ford Edge it's another shared platform like the escape/tribuet. It is being built by Mazda for now in Japan, and the Ford is being built in Canada. They share the drivetrain and frame.

Again, you get (or don't get) what you pay for!!!! The CX-7 starts at $20,000 and the CX-9 starts at $29,000.........there has to be more equipment in the CX-9 for it to sell over the CX-7. The CX-7 is a SUV version of the Mazda 3.......and the CX-9 is the SUV version of the Mazda 6. Mazda's goal with the CX-7 was to make a different looking SUV (crossover) and pack it with a turbo 4 cylinder to compete with Acura's RDX, but cost about $7,000 less when fully loaded..........but you still get the "Sport" model's chincy interior and alot of options (AUX/ipod jack) that are not included. YOU GET (OR DON'T GET) WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!

Vegas... the CX-7 is NOT an SUV version of the Mazda 3. The engine is a retuned Mazda 6. Suspension is based on the 3 and 5 (I believe). The CX-9 is a 6-cylinder Ford.

The CX-9 is BIGGER, much bigger, has a 3rd row of seats and higher towing capacity. That alone justifies it's heavier price tag. Some of the other stuff is just fluff that could have easily been included (or at least offered as options) on the CX-7. You're not paying $9,000 extra dollars for an aux input iPod jack and turn-signal mirrors.

LOL
