My WORK Emotion CR-KAI specs are 17x7, offsets 42 wrapped with Bridgestone Grid 2, 205/40/17. So far so good, no rubbing...oh btw shock all still in stock condition.

try this http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html you can see what different sizes will give you. just put in the stock size and the size you desire. then play til you find the ideal size. no more guess work

215/40/17 would give you a .04% change. the least change.

Checked Tire Rack and found every 215/40/17 and 215/40/17 tire I checked needed a minimum rim size of 7 inches. The popular Mazda 3 rim is 17 x 6.5. Tor that rim 205/45/17 is suggested. It seems people here are going against their recommendations. Any thoughts, as I just bought a set of these rims and need tires.

that size tire is suggested for the mazda 3 rim because they think you're putting it on a mazda 3. Go with a 215/40/17 tire.
