Hi folks,
Just picked up a 2008 GT w/Nav. When I got home I went to pair my phones, but it looks like someone has set a passcode. I am impatient about waiting until Monday to call Mazda (or the dealer as they are closed tomorrow) and was hoping that someone might know the reset instructions. I found a thread for resetting the 2009. But on that thread the first step was to press the power and tune knobs....well my vehicle doesn't have a tune knob. It has a tune button (with up and down). Tried the button and that didn't work. Might someone be able to help?

Thanks.

Hi, COBRA:

I have the 2008 MAZDA CX9 WorkShop manual.
I found these procedures for you since you have the 2008 also.
These were found under HAND-FREE TELEPHONE (HF/TEL) SYSTEM section.
I am not sure how these are related to the BT, but have found nothing related to BT
specifically other than these..... so,
proceed at your own risk --- can't resist saying that!!! (boom06)

With Touch Panel Type Audio (i.e. with NAVI system)
1. With the audio power on, press the POWER button and simultaneously press the AUDIO button for approximately 2s
2. Input diagnosis code "39"
3. If resetting, press the ENTER button and verify the "PASSWORD CLEARED" is displayed
4. If canceling, press the DELETE button

With standard audio (one with lots of hardware buttons)
1. Turn the ignition to the ON position
2. Turn the POWER button off
3. While pressing the POWER button, simultaneously press the "PRESET 5" button and the SEEK button for 3s or more
4. Verify that "PASSWORD CLEARED" is displayed on the information display.

On a separate front, there is a procedure to get into "on-board diagnostic test mode [HAND-FREE TELEPHONE]".
Here it is: Enter this mode to check error codes of the hand-free system if any error code exists. There is a table
listing all the codes and their corresponding problems (too many to list here, send me a PM if you really need it).

Standard Audio:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC or ON position
2. Turn the POWER button off
3. While pressing the POWER button, simultaneously press the RPT button and the "PRESET 2" button for 3s or more
* if several DTCs (error codes) are in the memory, they can be displayed using the SEEK button (up or down)
4. To stop the on-board diagnosis test mode, turn the ignition off

Touch Panel Audio:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC or ON position
2. Turn the POWER button off
3. While pressing the POWER button, simultaneously press the SEEK button (lower) and the SCAN button for 2s or more
4. To stop the on-board diagnosis test mode, turn the ignition off.

To clear the error codes (called DTCs by Mazda jargon)
1. Start the on-board diagnosis test mode
2. While pressing the POWER button, simultaneously press the AUDIO CONT (for standard audio) OR press the AUDIO (for touch panel audio) button for 2s or more
3. To stop the on-board diagnosis test mode, turn the ignition off.

Hope these help.....
