Replacing cams, and pistons...

Anyone done this yet? The 2.0 in stock form has good room to grow since it has low compression and very conservative cam profiles, and I think these 3 parts are the place to start. Has anyone replaced just these parts, and had good luck? I really like this car and am looking to purchase one, just inquiring about future upgradeability. The parts are out there and are inexpensive, cams and 10.7-1 pistons can be found here...

EDIT - I should mention this is for a P5.

the cams and pistons should add quite a bit to the engine, but to replace both you have to strip and rebuild your engine. not something to just go after if you have never rebuilt an engine before, and something that will cost a bit of $$ if you plan on a sho doing it.

I have a friend with his own shop, the labor will cost me a case of Kilkenny. I think I would do it all in one shot once the engine is broken in...And when I can afford it since I'm getting married next year. Damn weddings are expensive!

I have the FS-ZE engine with the 10.5-1 compression, and the J-Spec intake and exhaust cams. I can tell you that this will give you top-end power. You accually loose some torque on the low-end. Without proper tuning, these mods won't do much for you. I am currently changing my pistons out right now for the stock 9.1:1 compression to prep for my Turbo that is on the way.

Thanks for the input, this car will be autocrossed and low end torque is more important than high RPM power on the tight courses we run. Right now my 4000Q does really well for only having 115hp, it pulls strong right up until about 5000 rpm, revving any higher than that just makes more noise. I expect the P5 to at least pull to redline reasonably well, I am driving one this evening so I will find that out. The turbo kit is one thing I have thought about, I may do that.

the p5 should pull until redline, but in general you'll want to keep it at 6K or less.
