I just blew a turbo seal according to my mechanic. I'm finding the stock turbo is not rebuildable according to previous threads. I know a guy who offered to sell me a turbo off a 95-99 eclipse, its a garrett t25. Does anyone know if the flange matches or is close enough to use? If the turbo is rebuildable where can i find a kit? Thanks for the help

Same flange but a slower spooling turbo. The MSP turbo is a GT2554. You can get a CHRA from garrett and have you tech change it. Or on ebay you can get a used turbo for about $650

The turbo from the eclipse is $125. Thats the only reason I asked. Hopefully it works alright... I may upgrade sometime, but for now its my daily driver. Thanks for the advise guys!!

LOL. just went to a turbo shop today and the guy said he doesnt see how come you couldnt. how come?

ya u can ive talked to turbo shops that said you can its just not really worth it

A shop quoted me $300 to rebuild the GT2554. I also told them that supposably it could not be rebuilt. I gave them the specs and they said they can rebuild them. They stated any turbo can be rebuiilt. Now for the price of $300, cant beat that price with warranty.

There are several shops in California and a couple in AZ that I know of.

I wouldnt just say no there Cyclops. Why would it not be worth rebuilding the stock unit mazdaspeedp? I know there are more efficient turbo's out there but someone staying stock I would say go for it. Yea I know I will upgrade later to a GT28 or something along those lines but right now stickig to the stock GT25 will do for me.

or someones turbo that they dont have much faith in and doesnt have enough to get a 28 like me ha

I have heard from very many members on this topic and they say it cant be rebuilt. Even MPI Nick or who ever does the turbo upgrades wouldnt rebuild the stock turbo. He would just replace the CHRA. I am not a turbo rebuilder so it might be able to be rebuilt but I have heard from and read a s*** ton of info about the stocker being rebuilt. and not just from Joe blow, I mean members that have actually modded and know alot about the protege. And they say either one buy a new CHRA or upgrade to a larger turbo.

I dont know why this thread was locked. Who ever locked it please PM me and tell me why. Until then its opened back up.

The last time i talked to gpopshop they stated garrette does not allow authorzation to rebuild the turbos. So I doubt whoever is rebuilding them is rebuilding them with garrette parts. Anything can be repaired but is it repaired to specs?

Well then I will ask the shop again today and let you all know what they tell me. If I can I will email them.

I just sent an email to the company. I am waiting for their email. This is what they cover as far as rebuilding. Read the paragraphs on the page.

Its almost like the myth about the higher Amp Alternator. Bro has been running his with no problems and I plan to do the same.

i talked to alamo in canada and they said it would be about 600$ or somthin to rebuild and repaint it they would ship it out to garrett and get all the seals replaced and the outside repainted. I just thought its maybe not worth it if you have to pay someone to take off the turbo cuz thats gonna be another 200 in labour and why not just buy a gt28 may as well
