Repair shop wants $1400 of my cash. : (

nothing currently....
So the check engine light was on and off for a while. Not to worried because it drove perfect still. Well it is getting time for the inspection so I figured I should have it all checked out. Autozone earlier this month said it was the cadalitic convertor.

So I have it checked today and here is what they are wanting to do.
Replace Oxygen Sensors B1S1 and B1S2
B1S2 = $195
B1S1 = $351
Then labor is $85
Also they said it is time for the timing belt to be replaced....
Belt = $196 total (includes New Water pump and anti-freeze)
Labor: $221
Plus they said I need all my other belts replaced. $145 with labor.

So there goes the money. I am trying to find the parts cheaper so if anyone knows where to find them let me know!!!!
I dont think they are to hard to install so i can do them on my own if I have the parts. Plus I can do the other belts, but not the timing belt. : (

Sorry I forgot. This is for my 2001 MP3.
I have had it for a little over three years now.
Got it at about 30k and now has 120K

It has been a good car so I guess I can not complain to much....

get two bosch o2 sensors and replace them yourself. theyre like $70 or $80 a piece.

thats one way to cut on cost.

Thanks for the info!!!
I am going to check on that. It does not look hard to replace them.

And timing belt not much more. A little know how, a few wrenches, a half a day off, and some icehouse...can't see a better way to spend a day.

Got two bosch o2 sensors ($70 each)
Belts ($40)
Spark Plugs ($6)
About 3 hours of time (who knows)
Get to work on your car along side your dad...priceless!!!!

I am not a wrench guy but my dad has worked on 18wheelers most of his life. So it helps to have him around. We decided to find someone else to do the timing belt but everything else is done for about $200 and 3 hours of some good times and laughs. Thanks for the help and info on this.
