Replace:

- front bumper
- front upper grill

What's the ballpark figure for this kind of repair?

Schweet, I'll compare that with mazda 2-20 here. I expect 1000-2000$. No deductible so it's not too bad, but over the next 3 years it might cost me 700$ of increased insurance.

brand new mp3 bumper is 325$ u.s. not painted. i have an old bumper of mine that i am selling for 200$ all it has is a one inch crack right above one of the fog lights i got it replaced last month as all of you may know when that lady ran the red light and barely touched me. i had a deductable of $250 or if i didnt have that i would of spent 725$ for a bumper and paint   if i knew how to post the pics on this board i would show all of you my bumper that i have on my wall or if you just have an email i can email you the pikz...

I would wait till the WW kit comes out and get the front bumper from it, will be alot cheaper than stock. As for the grill, grab the autoexe, prolly also cheaper than stock hehe.

i will be able to tell you exactly what it cost in a few weeks. i will also be able to tell what it would cost for oh say, a grill, lights, fog lights(199 a piece), hood, fender and some braces in engine bay. by the way lets say, hypatheticly of course, some lady decided to stop in the middle of the highway and start a four car pile up and messed up a lot of your parts, namely the ones that are only on the mp3 version, where would they get parts. would they have to come from japan or are there any in the states. also how long do yall think it would take, hypetheticly of course.

too happy my fogs weren't touched. so it's prolly gonna be 2 large canadian. ok.

Well, My MP3 is parked outside a body shop in Central PA awaiting parts. Got tagged last week while down on business in Hershey by a Nissan Altima that came down an exit ramp 100 yards away from the side road I was pulling out of. Damage includes left fender, strut, rim (winter steelie), front of the driver's door, front grill, headlight, bumper cover and actual bumper ram. Total $6438.00.

I'm driving a rental Chrysler Sebring with a slushbox :( For the next couple weeks until the parts come in. Hope the drivetrain didn't get hurt!

Enry, well I'm un happy to find out my estimating program{Mitchells}lists the mp3 but shows parts and numbers for an es !
I called my mazda supplier hes going to call me tomorrow.
Oh it doesnt even show a p5 exists, and this stupid program and supt. was 5grand!

it's all good, my mazda dealer was like speedy gonzales, dropped the car off tuesday and today I pick it up. only took this long cause they had to call mazda to order the bumper, the computer said it was B/O. they wanted to put a p5 bumper (only diff is the P5 side markers) but I wanted to keep it a lean green mp3 machine.

so total is under a grand U.S. And that's mostly because I'm a picky person and asked that they replace the right headlight which was just slightly damaged. Very minor frame damage as far as I can tell (3mm skew from left to right), or, could be that the hood lock needs fixing. fogs are OK, new upper grill, and I asked for a switch to synthetic mobil 1 oil.

My dealer is real paranoid, they absolutely asked me to pick up the car today. Turns out the last time they kept an mp3 in the lot,
1) sound system got stolen
2) mazda 2-20 orders new sound system
3) while waiting for sound system to arrive, mags get stolen

Needless to say I would have been not a happy ******* camper if this happened to me. Actually I got lucky, 2-20 in DDO got their MP3s a little later than the other 2-20 dealers in Montreal. So when I started really complaining at the late delivery of the car, they had one driven down from there (hence the 40km on the odometer).

Overall I must admin their service is pretty good.

Thanks all for the input, I'll let you know if they really did a good body job or not.
