Yesterday the little molding strip on the rear door caught on the driver door and bent, I was able to bend it back into shape however. I read that someone took his off and it looked very smooth, Anyone have some tips for this?

take them off when the weather is warm or use a blow dryer to heat up the glue, get the edge up with some string and pull slowly. Take off remaining glue with wax or polish and your done. I am actually putting mine back on my 04 3 because I just got a ding from some a-hole in an SUV. However, I think the cars look a lot smoother without them.

i tried to take mine off once. i used floss and it kept breaking. i didnt have any fishing line so i called it a day.

not if u use the fishing line, just go slow when its warm. the only part u can mess up is if you use paint thinner or something that will eat paint to remove the glue. i just used my thumb when it was warm and cleaner wax to get the excess crap off.

i took mine off i didn't use string or any thing just started at one end and pulled it off left no sticky stuff, looks real nice this way....

Alrighty,
Before I yank em off, Do they serve any purpose?

well yes, they prevent the door itself from getting dinged if someone opens their door into yours.

doesnt matter everything else either sits higher or lower than the strips, just park away from the junkers that dont care about there cars....

If you want to remove the side moldings then just get a piece of fishing line. use the line to "saw" back and forth through the adhesive holding the strip on the door. It helps to have the adhesive warm (sit it in the sun, park it a garage, use a heatgun, etc.). Once you do that the use goo gone to get rid of the adhesive residue, and wash/wax the doors.

Easy to take off!!! If there is a Murrys autostore in your area go there first. What you are exactly looking for is a Spray Can of 3m Spray Adhesive Remover........Its in a Blue can. I recommend this because it is totally safe for your paint, and it worked Great for me. You could use a blow dryer and heat them up and try to pull them off, chances are most of the adhesive wont come off. I just loaded mine up with the spray letting it sit for a few minutes then just pulled them off......it might take a little to get it started, But once you start just keep going and theyll come off. Use the remover to get all the adhesive off using your finger tips, DONT SCRATCH TO HARD, and try to have the top of your finger nail against the car doing more of a slow peel, not a scratching motion. I got the can for $7 and it was totally worth it........You could use Dental Floss or Fishing line to get them started, but once you start pulling it will peel off some of the adhesive with it saving you the hassle of getting it off......If you use Floss on the whole thing what it will do is cut the adhesive in half and you will have the full strip of adhesive to remove...............I just used my fingers for everything and it took about 45mins....Your hands will be tired but its a great end result!!!

Have fun with it........and dont forget to wax the doors after your done!!!
