are you guys that are having trouble, using the fishing line the whole way along the moldings? cause you only want to start like the first inch and then pull with your hands. If you "saw" through the whole thing, the residue will be a real pian to get off, as you found out. the 3M stuff has a pretty soft and gooey foam core...thats why it's easy to cut with the fishing line, but it has a badass adhesive, the remainder is a b****, cause the foam wants to fold and smoosh, rather than roll off.
I know i live in cali, but i did mine on a realatively cool day, high 60s low 70s. Moved the car out of the garage for like 20mins and they came right off. I did get impatient on the other side and pulled too fast, but i never even had to use the fishing line, i just grabbed the edge with a fingernail and pulled. I also got the "3" badge off like that, just pulled and it came right off....lol
3M Citrus Adhesive cleaner is the bomb, seriously, it works great. I once got duct tape residue off my sunroof (old car, it leaked) that was on there for over 6 months in the rain and hot cali sun. It blew me away that within 10 - 20 SECONDS the residue was breaking down and rubbing right off. The little side moldings have nothing on duct tape residue....lol (safe for paint and clear coat)
