That was another dumb statement. The Amber lens on the corner is basically there for legal reasons like Sir Nuke said. According to the US law, there has to be an Amber colored light in the front corner of the car, visible from the side. The side markers are for safety reasons. Let's say I'm in your blind side and you don't see me, you signal and start changing lanes and I don't see you signal because you don't have a light on the side that blinks plus I can't see your rear signal, you'd simply side-swipe me. However, if you have the side markers, I'd see that you want to change lanes and get out of your way. Subject to your own preferences, they're merely safety devices.
The amber light on the front of the bumber does not blink, just like the the orange corner or the MP3 headlight doesn't blink, the law states that if the corner of the headlight is not orange there needs to be an orange marker in front of the front tire, now the blinky one is just a accesory. It does blink when when you turn but it's not there by law.
