Removing Bumper Lens on the MP5??

Well today I get back to my car and it has a big scratch on the bumper, so i guess i will have to repaint the entire bumper. So now I figure ill order the AUtoexe lip and have it all painted at the same time. But i also want to remove the amber lens that come on our P5's...
i heard somewhere that its illegal...is it?
or will i be ok??

It's illegal, because we don't have the amber in the headlight we have to have one in front of the front wheel, because the MP3 has amber corner headlights they can have a white light behind the front wheels.

I do want to point out that this statement is fals e..since the MP5 does have amber in the headlights as a front directional signal located on the inside of each head light see pict alothought mine are red now

Those little holes will cost you no less than $400 usd. I got it estimated a while ago.

????? just what did you have estimated? Are you talking about replacing the front bumper with that of a MP3 and the cost of having it repainted? as that WOULD do the trick.....seeing as how the front ends are the same with the exception of the side markers.

NO its not....even though the blinkers in our headlight assyemblies are amber....they are NOT visible to the extent required from the side of the car...NOR are they reflective in the sence that the law requires them to be visible when another vehicles lights shine onto them....check out your tail lights...any that are legal to use in the US anyway...and you will notice that there is a part of them on the side that is reflective as well....just like the fronts of our cars are required to have a reflective amber section....

sure you can take them off.....and you may drive for years before any officer of the law ever says a word.....or then again you might only get one block from your house......

i find sidemarker lights useful for other drivers to see when you are changing lanes, esp when you are parallel on the freeway.

I wish more cars had them, even tho stupid LA drivers never signal, or look, or care.

Well the amber one doesn't blink, it's like a parking light. you must be refering to the one's on the 2002.5's and up.

speaking of side blinkers/markers, has anyone took a look at the new VW Beetle's? They did a little copy of mercedes and put them in the very far outside of the mirror. I am personally going to get some of the power mirrors off ebay with the signals in them, once I get tired of my plain old mirrors.I do have a pair of side markers that go in the fenders of the car, but the more i think about it it really looks cleaner and smoother without em. Just my .02 though.

then what on earth are the damn side markers on the fender for on the 2002.5 and up ???????????!!!!!!!!

That was another dumb statement. The Amber lens on the corner is basically there for legal reasons like Sir Nuke said. According to the US law, there has to be an Amber colored light in the front corner of the car, visible from the side. The side markers are for safety reasons. Let's say I'm in your blind side and you don't see me, you signal and start changing lanes and I don't see you signal because you don't have a light on the side that blinks plus I can't see your rear signal, you'd simply side-swipe me. However, if you have the side markers, I'd see that you want to change lanes and get out of your way. Subject to your own preferences, they're merely safety devices.

I notice that it's a different front bumper too so he probably didn't have trouble putting that universal lens on. I like it though and I totally dig the wheels.

The amber light on the front of the bumber does not blink, just like the the orange corner or the MP3 headlight doesn't blink, the law states that if the corner of the headlight is not orange there needs to be an orange marker in front of the front tire, now the blinky one is just a accesory. It does blink when when you turn but it's not there by law.

so what if the plastic housing on the side marker is clear, but the bulb itself is amber... is that still illegal?
