Has anyone removed the black vinyl tape from there CX9 door pillars? That's the area between the front door windows and the rear door windows. I have a Tundra truck and removed the vinyl tape on the door pillars. There is factory paint underneath and it added a little more class to the looks.
Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else had attempted this and if the paint was good underneath. Let me know your results if you succeeded!!

A lot of ppl have done this on their proteges that I've seen, I think it looks good on almost anything!

I have seen many many versions of "black out tape" from manufacturers. One piece on the vertical portion, one piece vertical and up and over the top of the door kinda in the shape of a lathe. Adhesive, riveted, welded, riveted and welded, etc. I believe on the CX-9 it is either tape, or an actual plastic or metal applique. If it is thin tape, it would cost the manufacturer less to loose the paint behind the tape (although the entire area would be fully primed) but as the above post says the protege has paint behind the tape, then I don't know. I won't be the guinea pig though...

I'm actually pondering the idea of blacking out the chrome trim around the windows with black out tape.

I actually just looked at the pillars that you are talking about and it seems like it is color matched from the little piece of vinyl that i pulled off the inside. Too scared to pull the whole thing off though. lol.
