For those members with close to or over 20K miles, how has the car held up? Rattles, clutch chatters, brake rotors warped, alignment off, things like these going bad yet? And how about tires? I understand they're only good for about 20K... anyone had to replace them yet?

i have 16,000 on the car, and it still feels brand new. tires are still good also. i dont race though.

I'll be replacing my tires in a week or two. I've used them for autocross though and I have 9500 miles. Be sure to rotate them every oil change. It helps with the wear. Otherwise everything else seems to be fine. I will probably get an alignment soon as well. Oh yeah, a little grindage in the tranny from 2nd to 3rd when I shift at high revs.

sorry i forgot to mention that i had the problem to, noticed when the car was only a month old and had it fixed right away.

I took mine to the dealer and they said I was shifting at too high of an rpm and that wasn't the correct shift point, but they'll not the problem and it'll be covered if it gets worse. It is random at this point so it doesn't always happen. I'll wait until it just goes to s*** and get a new one put in. Warranties are great that way.

well i had the problem took it to the dealership, they drove it and couldnt hear it and asked me to take a tech for a drive and show him. i showed him he heard it right away. went back ordered a whole new third gear (synchros everything) a few days later the parts came in. they had my car for two days. now the car feels great. it was always when i tried to shift at about redline in 2nd. i thought it was my lack of experince but it wasnt.

I agree- the build quality seems to be really good on these cars, and from the messages it seems like Mazda is taking are of problems that occur (like the 2-3rd shift thing). My biggest complaint about my 1st gen Integra was the rattles and squeeks and groans, and while I was wary that this car might do the same with the stiff suspension, it's doing great so far w/ 12,000 miles.

Is this another one of those, "bushing", type of problems that is present with the majority of MP3 owners? Grinding noise at high rpm, near red-line, when shifting from 2-3... I'll give that a shot sometime this week and see if it bothers me. Thanks for the info guys!
