I agree with Rich. That silly ass thread has been linked to so many sites that have nothing to do with Mazdas let alone cars that I seriously doubt we'll really see much in the way of true forum member growth once it has died down. Personally, the people I want to share a forum with are the people who have questions about their Mazdas or want to enjoy discussions about Mazdas so they do a Google search and find the forums the same way I did. I'd bet we gain more trolls then actual Mazda owners once all is said and done. Just my two pennies.
So what we like the publicity that we have a nimrod in the forums??? That people jump someone's case (albeit deserved this time.. for once), and that the biggest reason to come to this forum is a foolish OT thread that isn't even funny?
Sorry if I sound grumpy, I'm not.. I'm being rhetorical, but I am starting to get fed up with losing posts and not being able to browse worth a dang because of the server speeds because a bunch of people want to make fun of and laugh at some guy that either has a problem, needs attention, has low self-esteem, or just isn't that bright.

Case in point. I just typed about three paragraphs agreeing with what TurfBurn was saying and reinforcing what I had stated earlier and wouldn't you know it when I went to post it the session timed out. I'm not even gonna bother retyping it, but I will remember to copy this text incase it happens again.
I'm on a cable-modem connection here and I bet it wouldn't matter if I had a dedicated T1. The session would still time out.
Admins, please consider Rich's suggestion. This is not the kind of publicity our forum needs. The forums' resources are being tasked by a bunch of people who could give two s**** about our forum or Mazdas for that matter. They're only coming to laugh at some idiot to make themselves feel better. It is simply not fair to long-term members to have to deal with snail-slow loading for a stupid off-topic thread.
Oh and for the record, GI I ******* hate you and your stupid ass lies!

This is not cool at all, and I agree with what vodapas and turfburn are saying here. Why do we want a bunch of people that could give 2 s**** about this community here just so they can say "oh hey guys, this made it to www.goscrewyourself.com"? What good does free publicity do when the people do not care about what happens here other than the one stupid thread? And now to make it worse, there are like 5 other threads that all these people are checking out, so it is adding to the problem.
I don't see why my suggestion is totally agreed with by almost everyone who has chimed in here, EXCEPT for the 2 super mods who thing this whole thing is great. Sorry Dana, but this is NOT going away in 2 days... actually you said that yesterday, so you think it will be gone by tomorrow. I HIGHLY doubt that... I think it will continue this way for a few weeks at least as it circles the internet. Something needs to be done here unless you guys just want this place to be a circus act for the next month. I think that it is crappy to say "oh we want free publicity, but all you members can just sit and suffer and wait".
Oh well, this is probably another one of my stupid ideas, so this will be my last post on this forum for awhile until this nonsense stops.

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be posting anymore Rich, but I completely understand why. I'll keep in touch with ya on IM.
As for why the phantom second page was created. I can explain that. When I was making my last post I was trying to stop it and restart it since I knew it was going to time out once again and I accidentally created a double post. So, I went to delete the second post and while doing that it timed out. So, the post got deleted but didn't show a deleted post and the reason why. Thus creating the second page.
Yeah, things are sure peachy around here. Glad we've got all these new helpful forum members.
Honestly, the only thing I've personally had a real problem with is posting/sending PMs. Reading the site isn't too horribly slow.

Good points made guys....but those who just come to check the thread out will mostly likely not have the attention span to stick around...on the plus side...there has to be a few Mazda owners who now know about this fine community....also...it's an interesting internet phenomenon...keep it open...it will pass...watch out for left over trolls...carry on...
I get database errors, time outs. I lose about 30-50% of the posts I try to make (I now copy the text before I hit post so I don't lose everything I type), and PM's almost always take two tries... I'm on a dedicated fiber optic network... I believe our current speeds are set for something sick in the gig/s range... and I still timeout, drop, and load slower than dialup on here occasionally. Every once in a while things run just fine... but other times (like around lunch) I just give up and don't bother!
I understand Antoine's point, and I see the benefit for the community... but if this isn't clearing up by the end of this week then something should be done out of respect to the established forum community and to the businesses on here to make it reasonable for browsing and normal operations.
If this was a Mazda related, or tech related, or accomplishment thread I'd say let it go because that's great and that's what the forum is for.... but for something that should be headed to the dumpster rather than our "premier" thread.... I'm not willing to support that!
