Hey guys, just bought an 03.5 silver msp on monday (cant believe someone would trade this car in with only 2400 miles but there are stupid people out there). anyway, i definently have the ecu flash problem, however you wanna say it. my question is i wanna eventually run 10 psi with intake, fmic, and full exhaust but it wont be for a while cause im trying to save some money up after being stuck with 2 car payments for 2 years. i know advanced timing is bad when it comes to high boost but the bogging is driving me crazy. you guys think i should reflash it or will i regret it when i start running 10 psi? thanks.

10psi you should be fine even flashed as long as you have all the other mods (FMIC, exhaust, intake, colder plugs, etc.).

Anything higher though you should think about getting the flash. But there are a few people running 12+psi post-flash on the boards.

And if you do get flashed, and then decide you want to boost more, you could always go with a piggyback or standalone PCM.

I say go for it. It made a very noticeable improvement in driving quality...and what little bit of hesitation remained was fixed when I put my downpipe on.

I am running almost 10psi post-flash with no problems. If you ask anyone all of our cars are different. If you plan on getting the chip by corksport or ion I've heard not to get flashed. Also, if you plan on going crazy on the psi don't do it. I'd say if the highest you're going to run is 10, and you don't plan on doing it for a while get the flash. Like jersey said, if you really want to up your boost later get a standalone or MPI tuner.

Might explain why it was traded. Someone got tired of going in circles with Mazda trying to get the car to run like it is supposed to.

The re-flash more than likely has been done to your car already.

Yup. The owner probably just said screw it when Mazda continously gave them the run-around like they do to so many of their customers. Or, like the guy above said, he probably GOT it flashed and it STILL hesitates like a turd and just couldn't stand it anymore.

Personally I'd say don't bother getting the flash. I say that because it didn't make much difference for me (and others). The car still hesitates.

im getting flashed on tuesday.....i sure hope it makes a difference. Today i felt my car hesitate worse than ever....the weather is getting warmer, and i was driving around all day looking for a frickin' adapter for my oil pressure gauge, so i figured the IC was just heat soaked. i just hope she runs like she should have from the factory......

Well i got my car flash and it was like night to day .
My car is all stock , and has ran great sent the flash.
but it like what the other peeps on the board said
each car is diff. Only u can make the call on what u
want to do.
