2003.5 Titanium MSP
My brother bought a spankin new MSP in Jan04. Took his time breaking it in, at 1200 miles finally took it to the dealer because the RPM's were hitting 100-200 and the diagnostic lights would come on whenever he came to a stop. Dealer had the car for over a month, replacing the turbo pipe, some sensors, and the computer. He got the car back a week ago and the same problem persists. Back to the dealer it went the other day. Anyone else exhibit these probs? The dealer said it's been on the phone with Mazda trying to figure the problem out. How can the manufacturer not know how tio fix its own cars! Help!

I know...Boo the 5.0....but my bro has the MSP. Thanks in advance guys!

Hey, noticed youre in Niles. You and your bro should check the Illinois section out on the board here.

Sorry i dont have an answer for you though

So the car almost stalls out when youre coming to a stop? Sounds like a leaky BPV, or pipes, which have alraedy been replaced. Id take it back to them again and again, and hopefully they'll figure it out or you can use the lemon law to get out of the car.
Sucks youre having this problem.
Are there any mods done?

Illinois forum is in the regional forums near the bottom of the forum list.

"How can the manufacturer not know how tio fix its own cars! Help!"

It's not the fact that the manu. doesn't know how to fix their cars, it's the fact that on your bros. car they can't figure out whats causing the problem. Cars can/do break in a billion different ways, and each part can exhibit a billion different problems when breaking/broke. In this situation alone I can think of over 50 things I would check right away (in which I'm sure have already been checked). And the fact that they replaced the pcm already makes me think that they are having alot of fun with trying to find the problem. I jus hope they already tried replacing the bpv.

yep, all the stuff's been replaced. brother just got a call from the dealer that they moved the "blow-off valve" to another location because it was machined wrong. supposedly its fixed, but that's what they said the last time.

i looked into the lemon law, and would have nailed em for having it over 30 days but they said parts were on backorder (the radio was stolen while in their possession) and attorneys say the same problem needs to be addressed at least 3 times to qualify....so far 2 down.

found the illinois forum, appreciate it

also, the car has no mods

First off, what's the "bpv"?

Here is the dealer's report:

Replace blow-off valve, replace power train control module, check egr valve passages for casting slag, replace mass air flow to turbo boot seals, replace blow off valve seals, check idle air control valve, response time 299% load.

hope this helps

If you have to take the car back 3 times..for the same problem..you are probably entitled to the Lemon Law!

Which means..either they give you the money back..or a brand new mazdaspeed.
