Cabin and Engine Filters

I have used the Wix 24103 Cabin Filter. It appears to be about the same quality as the Mazda OEM filter and it is supposedly treated with some sort of antimicrobial treatment.
After a bunch of searching, the following link is where I wound up buying the two filters(engine air filter was also Wix)
http://www.autopartsandstuff.com/wix-24103-cabinairfilter.aspx?gclid=CKb53eL1qccCFUUkgQodf8cKxg is for the Cabin filter. (about $14 + fgt). Like you I wanted a better filter but No Joy!

http://www.autopartsandstuff.com/search.aspx?find=Wix+49247 (Wix 49247)...It was priced at about $12 + fgt (filter seems to be a GREAT deal and pretty heavy duty, albeit quite rigid). (Have not put the engine filter in yet.. Note: the oem Mazda Air filter does look to be of good quality.

Living in the High Desert, the engine air filter gets replaced 2 times a year as does the Cabin filter.Air can get pretty nasty and filters are a lot cheaper than an engine (or my lungs).

The cabin filters are way overpriced at the dealers, like 2.5x the Wix price..unless you want them to install it for you...THEN THEY REALLY SQUEEZE!!! lol

I usually buy filters from www.filterheads.com, but as yet, they have not made filters for the CX-5! I spoke with them last month and they are supposed to be making them shortly. I bought filters for my departed Subaru OB and they had excellent prices and quality!

Air flow and filter efficiency are two competing elements based on this filter study. Without a test it's hard to say where the Mazda OEM filter falls along the flow rate vs. efficiency spectrum. K&N filter has the least amount of flow restriction but it's also the worst in terms of its ability to capture dirt.

You don't have to buy the OEM engine air filter from your over-priced dealer. Here's a genuine Mazda one for only $16.35 with free shipping:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/ (commissions earned)

Considering the very high quality of the OEM air filter, low price and 35,000 mile service interval, why would you want to go with anything else?

The OEM cabin filter looked pretty cheap to me so I would expect people to try some of the other brands.

Thanks all and I expect to purchase the OEM engine filter from Amazon (thanks Mike) and proble a WIX cabin (thanks busser) Ed Hayes

Medcenter Mazda, the sponser at the top of the page has the filters listed on their site. $16.96 for the engine and the same for the cabin filter, oem quality. If you're also looking to do an oil change they have a whole kit that includes the Moly oil, oil filter, engine and cabin air filter for $77.92. I think if you spend over $100 shipping is free so add another oil change kit or some other accessory and it gets shipped free.

In the Phoenix area we get these dust storms maybe once or twice a year. I use AEM's reusable aftermarket "dry" air filters in that I can clean them as often as needed yet provide OEM like protection from particles. No oiling required.

Tip: Purchase the AEM filter while your stock air filter is still relatively clean. Save the Stock filter. When cleaning the AEM filter, use the OEM filter for a day or two until the AEM filter is dried.

I would stick to OEM parts. Buying them from mazdaparts.org is inexpensive and you will get fast shipping. Nothing fits or performs as well as OEM.

Forgot about those! :(

I wonder if they make a BAGGIE in a size to fit a CX-5...LOL
