Recall Question, need advice

The recall may have been issued on that day, but who knows...maybe the notification took two days to get to the dealer in the mail and by then the guy took the car home. Honestly I usually would bash the dealer in a case like this because a lot of the salesmen are low-lifes and they probably would sell their own mother a car that was supposed to be recalled if they could make a buck. But the circumstances in this case seem like it was just an honest mistake.

if only they had some kind of technology that could transport information instantly instead of having to send physical notification through the pony express, perhaps an entire network, they could call it the internet...

...if only

that is still not the point. What they did by selling him the car might have been a mistake, but all they have to do to fix that mistake is to fix his motor mount. They dont have to give him discounts on other products. His idea is that he is going to tell them that if they dont give him a discount on something then he will try to hurt their reputation over this. that is blackmail and the fact is the only thing he is entitled to is getting his motor mount fixed free of charge.

youre an idiot...

from wikipedia...
Blackmail is the act of threatening to reveal information about a person, or even do something to destroy the threatened person, unless the blackmailed target fulfills certain demands. This information is usually of an embarrassing or socially damaging nature.

If the dealer did sell him the car while under recall then yes it was illegal, but they can make retribution by fixing the issue right away for him and apologize for the inconvenience(he didnt get hurt or have anything happen to him as a result of them selling the car to him)...so as long as they fix it they are vindicated...they dont have to give him discounts on other products because of this...they only have a respnibility to fix the problem...his implication is Blackmail because he is trying to get something out of them that is more than he deserves and it would be damaging to their reputation.

1. he wasnt going to "destroy the threatened person"
2. there were no demands, he was suggesting it may be offered
3. no they dont HAVE to do anything, but most businesses will offer something to stay in good standing with the customer

there was no consequence to him buying the car with the recall out on it. So why is he entitled to anything other than getting it fixed. If he got hurt as a result of the mistake it would be a different story, but he didnt...and even the fact that he might have gotten hurt doesnt matter because he didnt get hurt. So trying to squeeze the dealer for a discount is BS...

HE SAID THAT THE DEALER TOLD HIM IT WAS RECALLED...he wanted to know if he could hold the fact that they didnt tell him about immediately over their head to benefit himself in the form of a cold air intake....

the issue is not that the guy who started this thread is concerned about his safety, he is more concerned with how he can benefit from the fact that he didnt receive prompt notification!

If it was only a safety issue for him he wouldve just had the bolt fixed end of story...instead he wants to know if it was illegal so he can go say, "hey you guys ****** up and if you dont give me something to keep my mouth shut then I'm gonna get you in trouble"...which is blackmail dummy...I know you think mail from BET is blackmail but it really is a legal term...

you are reading way to far into the few words he said and escalating this into a big issue, for some unknown reason. and how old are you, calling me a dummy, rofl, real mature. i guess i have to say it again, the purpose of bringing it up was not blackmail, more of an issue of the dealer doing the wrong thing.

lol, i did read them, no mention of lawsuit, just a matter of the dealership potentially committing and unethical crime

well what do you think he meant by post 3? Ok, maybe not a lawsuit, but he implied he was going to do or say "something" to get a discount on a product. That implied to me at least the threat of saying,"well if you dont do this for me I'll sue you" or "I'll try to damage your reputation by telling the paper (or whomever) that you did this to me".

do i have to say it again??? he did this not to demand something, but because they may offer something

whatever kid, its a crap thread...bottom line...i have nothing more to say. Anyone who reads this crap is going to agree with me anyways...

yeah cause you just dont seem to get it...and I am ****** 8 years older than you which is probably why you cant figure out why I am right...

OMGZ 8 WHOLE YEARS OLDER... YOU ARE A BIG BOY NOW. no i do get it, you wanted to insult someone to feel better about yourself

Violation of federal law for selling a vehicle that has a safety recall on it that has not been fixed?

As stated, you are reading way too far into it. As a consumer, you should ask for compensation for the inconvenience although quite often, they will offer to do so themselves. I just got a brand new, factory painted hood, not a reapired hood, due to the dealer tweaking mine, Sure, they offered to fix it but I am the one being inconvenienced and insisted they do better.

lol, i thought you were done talking. i like how you resort to namecalling by calling me junior in a derogatory sense when i'm sure i'm more mature than you

Irony? Arguing over who is more mature showcases your immaturity. Time to act your ages fellas.

The following members need to end their dispute immediately:

I shouldn't have to be telling any of you this. Quit trashing threads. This is your last warning.

I know you think mail from BET is blackmail but it really is a legal term...

Watch the race comments buddy.

This is now the second time I've had to ask you to stop instigating/propagating arguements.
