Rebuilt exhaust! Finally, over two years later!

sounds like a nice exhaust setup to me. HKS mufflers sound great!

I'm alive! .. But I still don't have the time to post the pics right now, LOL. I literally picked up my car late Tuesday afternoon, drove out to B's, did 4th of July stuff, and JUST got back -- and now I get to run to the train station to get to classes.

The exhaust is AMAZING, though. Wait till you see the pics. Omigawd.

.. They'll be posted at 2pm EST! :D

Cool! I'm sure you've heard this before, but your first female I've met that gets excited about an exhaust system :) I wish you and my wife could hang out. Maybe she would understand why I get so excited about these things :) Can't wait to hear it and see it!

Alrightie .. about fifteen minutes late, but here they are. :D

And here's the engine bay. These were taken about five minutes ago -- it rained while I was at class and I didn't have my vent cover on, so stuff got dirty all over again. Augh.

Who built it? How much was the total cost?

Looks great by the way. Gives me some ideas down the road when I start building mine up again.

Looks sweet! Hows the spool/power increase with the new manifold? I've been out for a bit, but how much does the mani cost?

Mufflex in Trenton, NJ built the system. They do fantastic work -- granted, most of it is on muscle cars, but I was waiting in the shop when they got a call to do a turbo-back on a WRX .. so they're anything but unfamiliar with the import scene. And I'd rather not discuss the price. I paid what I paid -- my happiness is all that really matters. :)

I can't really give a fair judgement about power increase with JUST the manifold, since I got the manifold AND the entire exhaust all done at the same time. But with everything combined -- my God, it's SO much better. Quicker response, more even response through the RPMs, and the car no longer 'bucks' and 'freezes' (I don't know what other words to use, LOL) between hard shifts. I'll still get a stutter now and then -- but by now, I'm quite convinced that even that will go away when I get my WRX injectors and Unichip installed and tuned. And the manifold cost .. I think it was $350 from Thunder, through Protephile. Take a peek in the MSP Marketplace section for a bigfat thread on it.

hawt. serious congratulations, that looks well-built. and i was just noticing at how...unique...your piping is under the hood. Im very curious. the piping is very direct, what fmic core do you have? i feel like with that piping route it would give minimal lag.

I noticed you have the stock exhaust hangers. Will you be switching to Kartboys in the future? Just curious...

Thanks rush! I remember those old bucking days.... you must not be running any ems as of yet then?

The unichip will make you love your car all over again! Glad to hear your happy with it!

I have the MAM FMIC setup .. though it was slightly modified. Kooldino and I basically chopped off some of the SRI length to make it nice and short -- and then just popped a filter on the end!

I very highly doubt it. Unless something snaps or starts threatening to fall off .. I'm completely done with the exhaust.

Nope, not yet .. That's the last thing on the list. '05 WRX 440 cc injectors and the Unichip, which I'm going to have fully tuned at a shop that's about an hour and a half away. I can't wait, I'm SO sick of hitting the 'power wall' around 5000 RPMs!

wow the exhaust looks really clean and the thunder manifold looks great! Post some pics of the muffler when you get a chance;)

if the exhaust starts to rattle you are definitely gonna change your mind!

everything looks to have come out very nicely.

and, those stock hangers are poo. complete poo. get some kartboys. i'd feel better there's so much less sway.

I didn't even think people would be that interested in the muffler .. but if I have a couple minutes tomorrow, I'll do my best to crawl under the back of the car to get some shots!

And yes, the stock hangers ARE poo .. but if you didn't notice, the exhaust shop actually added an extra hanger in there for me. So it's more stable than the standard exhaust system. But still, if I start to hear any rattling .. I'll probably suck it up and upgrade to the Kartboy, haha.

Oh snap! looks like a killer piece :) Congrats

I too will be looking for a shop to do some nice exhaust work like u have there, soon enough.
