Rebuilding Eunos - fancy pitching in?

Hi to everyone :)

Thanks to Antoine for the invite to post! I'm rebuilding my 1990 Mazda Eunos and blogging about it here www.mazda-madness.co.uk so drop by and leave a comment, give some help, take the mick (UK for 'make fun of me') I really don't care!

I know zip about cars but you gotta learn somewhere - the car is a Japanese import, ran fine up until about two months ago so it's in need of a lot of TLC - not running well, lagging on accelaration - badly - some kind of timing issue? It's going to be completely renovated but it's sidelined for a couple of weeks while he's off the drive so I'm looking for good ideas, or any ideas to get cracking on when he's back up on ramps.

So, any imput would be great - here or on the blog - please comment don't be shy, I'm not :)

Thanks everyone and I look forward to some inspiration. I need it!

Welcome to the family! There's a wealth of information available on here.
Good luck w/the rebuild!

Found it!!!

Just thought I'd let you know I found the problem with my MX5 - it looks like this:

I think the timing is more than a little out!

Thanks for all the posts here and it seems 'go back to basics' is something worth remembering!

The crank pulley is out, so I have a new one on its way, gaskets galore and I think the rocker is going to get painted while it's off. I'll be doing the timing belt as I think it's well overdue!

The timing needs to be set exactly as below (sorry for the large image):

There should be 19 teeth on the timing belt between the marks on the intake and exhaust cam gears at TDC.

Good luck with the fix and welcome to the forums!
