I'm trying to rebuild my caliper, but I can't get the piston back in. How am I suppose to apply even pressure with a c-clamp and brake pad? seems like everytime it starts out straight but ends up uneven and stuck. Help!

Just keep trying. Open the bleeder on the caliper so there is not as much fluid pressure working against you. If you need to go and buy a caliper piston compressor it will make it easier. Good luck, just try again and again untill it's fixed.

Destineal, Be careful using a c-clamp you can crack and/or damage the backside of the caliper.Try Sears or your Autoparts store for a Disc Brake Pad Spreader along with a used Disc brake pad. Make sure you apply a very small amount of lube on the seal before pressing the piston back in

def agree with mech mike.....don't use c clamp....if ya gotta harbor freight go buy the disk brake kit....you'll need it to do rears if ya ever plan on learning how....and it's worth the 20-30 bucks imo

i rented a kit from auto zone wit no luck. disk brake spreader handle kept turning, but it wasn't turning the bolt to compress the piston. I'm supposed to have a temporary replacement at my house monday, but if I could find a caliper tomorrow I would get it. A lot has happened last week/this weekend and I have places I need to be.
