Reason# 576585 I'm glad I didn't get an 03 Mazda6

So, before I picked up my p5, I really wanted a 6, but decided against it as all I could afford was the i, and it didn't seem to perform any better than the p5. So, a few months later, my younger bro was looking for a car and I got him on the Mazda bandwagon and he ended up getting a pretty much loaded 6s.

I was jealous, but that was before the multiple recalls, CEL's & various other issues he's had with his 6.

Now, his 6 just failed the MO emissions test!! WTF is that about?! He has done 0 mods to this car. Now, he's got to go to the dealer and ride around in the nice rental neon/grand am/cavalier he'll get for the next couple of days. SWEET!

just wanted to share....thought it was a little f-ed up.

how did the stock 6 not pass???? that is just not right. My mom has a 6s so lets hope hers passes UTs emissions

exactly my point....why would it not pass? The emissions people gave him a list of different things that could be causing it, I'm guessing this is standard. He'll be taking it to the dealer for more warranty work. just seemed really odd.

Didn't know I did, but I have brought up the issues he's had with his 6 before.

First year models always have extra quirks and bugs....it's under warranty so don't worry too much about it

I hear ya, and I'm not trying to talk s*** about the car, cause it happens regardless of make/model, etc.

It was just that not passing emissions is a big PITA.

They do check the new (96+) cars by using OBD2. After either June or July 1 this is how all 96+ cars must be checked. There will be no exaust pipe sniffer anymore.

yeah, it turned out ok, I think the dealer just ended up resetting the ecu or something.
