rearview mirror

u mean slide off the windshield? i think its glue'd on. i had one fall off before (not in my protege) but other than that i never removed one before. the one that fell off me and my dad glued back on

There should be a little clip you have to press, or unscrew and it should slide upwards.. well they are all a little different. but tipicaly you can take it off without unglueing the actual bracket.

or you can just unglue the bracket with a sharp putty knife.

or just hit an insainly large pot hole.. that should also knock it off.. hahahah well jumping a 3 ft snowbank with a big 77 Ford did the trick on that mirror.

Got it off. Found a thread that said to insert a small flat head screwdriver and it should pop off. Are there auto dimming mirrors without the temp and compass? I would like an auto dimming mirror but without the hassle of running wires.

I have one that's not temperature but that is compass. I don't know that one exists without either. You could just not wire it up...

Yup, and then down the pillar. Wire it in with a new fuse in the fuse box next to the footwell. Someone sent me some decent instructions at some point to get it done, I Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Thought i read somewhere that there is a temp sensor near the drivers headlight for the mirrors temp reading? Might do this when i get a new headliner installed

Well you need to have the temperature sensor mirror (which includes that sensor...you'll need to install that). Apparently the price for one of those mirrors is ungodly, as nice as the option would be.

Also seen them with map lights and a homelink that you can program to open your garage door.....sounds nice

Don't know about the map lights (a light in your eye would be bloody annoying), but I have seen some with a homelink yes.
