Rear Wiper Question

Okay, so with all this exciting rain lately, the rear wiper has been getting quite the work out, and last night, I noticed a strange noise. I hadn't heard it before, probably due to loud music. Anyway, it sounds like the wiper is almost struggling to work. It does work fine, no issues at all going back and forth, but the noise is fairly loud.

We assumed the issue is the motor, and after a little bit of searching on here, I couldn't really get a concrete answer. I haven't taken anything apart since, well, it's been raining... Just curious if you guys on here have the same feeling of it being a motor. Thanks, Adam.

My rear wiper made that sound too for about a week. It almost sounds like the rear wiper motor was straining or something. Then it just went away. It's been running fine for about a year now. Maybe just pop off the rear plastic from behind the wiper motor and re-grease it?

Hmm, thanks for the info, maybe when the rain stops I'll give that a try. Thanks. :)

Are you sure it's not the wiper making noise? I have a real crap wiper on mine and it makes an annoying sound for about 5 minutes when I first turn it on then goes away...

Mine will do this too if I have it set to constant or intermitent for an extended period of time. The motor sounds like it's grinding. It's done this for years and still functions just fine.

Rear Wiper Blade

BTW, don't go to the dealer for a replacement rear wiper blade. There's only one aftermarket that I know of and I found it: "Trico Exact Fit Rear Intergral Blades". The snap right on the special rear arm and look just like the factory original. You can get them online.

Godspeed... (headbang)

We're going to finally get some warm weather over the weekend, so this is on one of my tasks to look into. :)

Anco 14" at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. The 14" was available in only 1 brand/model. I walked in and picked mine up, no problem.

I second that, I got mine at Wal-Mart for about $5. It's and Arco 14" and snapped right in out of the box in the parking lot. Not that I use the rear wiper that often, even living in portland, but it's nice to have a new blade that cleans the windscreen instead of just smearing it.

My wiper has made that noise for years.

Has anyone tried to replace the motor...? Or taken out the rear plastic cover to investigate....?

Has anyone tried to fit in a 15 or 16 inch blade to get a little more swept area? Looks like 15 would definitely clear on both ends. 16 would be real nice since they're so available, but the problem is clearing the arm near the hub. I may have to try it.
