Rear windshield damage - i hate ice!

So my MSP was parked in my garage, as always, and with all of the crazy about of cold weather/snow NJ has been getting there has been a fair amount of ice accumulating on my rooftops. Come home from work yesterday to find out that a big chunk had fallen off the house and landed on my rear windshield, completely shattering it. They whole piece needs to be replaced now. I know that the radio antenna/heating element is built into the rear windshield.

I've been told there is no aftermarket part available by a glass repair company, and that they can use a used part but it is not guaranteed that all features will work correctly (antenna/heating element), so that option is out. They then told me that the part will cost about roughly $750 for the part, and im guessing that is without installation fee.

I'm posting this to make sure I do not get ripped off, and get some of the MSP community's opinion. This does sucks. More than open to any input!

Thanks.

UPDATE: Would this part work? http://www.jimellismazdaparts.com/p...ge/GLASS--BACK-WINDOW/1822044/B27D63930B.html

Yeah that looks like the correct one, 'MPS2 suspension' is usually the MSP. Just call Jim Ellis and ask the parts guys before you order. The front windshields on these cars are also unique from the factory, they are lighter weight (another reason why they always would crack).

I did notice a flaw in the front windshield but no cracks yet. It is an 11yr old car, but only 31800k miles on it. Hope the front windshield doesn't go on me.

EDIT: One place I called says they can do replacement for $225 with the antenna installed and defrost element. I asked for the model and they said it was a Pilkington glass FB20544

I have a chip on that side at the moment too, but not shatters or cracks. biggest concern is my cracked rear windshield lol

yea that does suck good luck boss it does seem cheaper to order yourself and then find someone to install it for you. Wont insurance cover this kind of thing?

Still trying to figure that out. Found a local place that will install for $225 that's with glass plus installation. But hes using pilkington glass. I don't know if that's good or not. I gave him the mad and model and the guy says that he has it in stock at their warehouse.
