Rear Suspension Noise

Bought the MP3 today! I finally understand why you guys love this car so much. The dynamics are incredible for the price. My car does seem to have an issue, though, and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same thing. There is a semi-loud noise coming from the rear suspension area that occurs at any speed over even minor bumps. It's kind of a low-pitched klunk. Let me know if this is common. The seller said the noise has been present since the car was new and they brought it in to be checked out, but the dealer said it was normal. I find this hard to believe, since the noise is quite loud and obtrusive. Let me know if you know anything!

the dealer is right. it is normal. you'll get used to it.

It's most likely your endlinks and or swaybar bushings or both. Upgrade to Energy Suspension urathane swaybar bushings w/the grease nipple and AWR endlinks. I did both front and back and havent had any sounds/problems since. Good Luck!

I just went to the Energy Supension website to get part numbers...and they don't list anything for the Gen 3 - Protege. How did you get stuff to fit?

You have to get the universal bushings & brackets that would fit the MP3 or MSP aftermarket swaybars outer dimensions. I think rear is 19mm and front 20 or 22mm (Not sure thought, it best to do a search).
Then when you get them its just a matter of bending the rear ones to match the stock brakets angles. And expanding in lenght the front ones bolt holes to fit the front bracket bolt holes. Its not difficult it just takes time and patience but its worth the hassle. especially if you get the ones with the grease nipples, I grease mine every other month and its a cinch cause you dont need to remove the It took me 3 hours to do the front and rear, I used a drill with a titanium head to expand the front brakets, and a hammer (Wrapped with a towel to protect the finish of the bracket) and piece of 4X4 wood to shape the rear. Good Luck!
