Rear Spoiler Question

Just noticed that on the rear spoiler, to the right of the brake light there is a hole....not sure if there should be a lense or something covering that area or is it suppose to be open. I didnt notice the opening before but did today. Could someone please anser that wuestion for me. Its a opening maybe 1 inch square. thanks

It is normal by design. The rear washer sprey nozzle is inside.
Mazda probably figures that it is better this way to prevent clogging.

Helps hide the sprayer too, vs. one of those ugly black units sitting on the surface.

I think I've mentioned it elsewhere but this post begs me to complain again about that rear window sprayer. It is poorly located and calibrated. Half the washing fluid has dripped down the tailgate before the wiper gets around to it. The sprayer should be on the other side (above the wiper when it's in the "home" position) so that all the fluid actually gets used and the wiper doesn't have to sweep across half a dirty window before reaching the fluid. I find so much about the CX-9 to be well thought out but this is not one of them.
