Rear hatch release

Newb here and 1st post ... newb to Mazda and Newb to CX-7 as well.

2K7 copper/red CX-7 owner ... bought it as a stripper model. No frills.

I've searched and find no discussion about an electronic rear hatch release. Was this even optional on any model CX-7?

I have a FWD model and have a significant transmission leak. Leaves a softball sized spot on the driveway.

I haven't removed the plastic "skid plate" to take a closer look, but searching tells me there are some issues with axle seals. Sound like a reasonable culprit?

I bought Mazda because Mazda supports grassroots racing.

And I live about 10 minutes from Jason Saini's shop.

Great site ... search feature has taught me a lot.

Great video there Mitch and welcome. To answer your question, sadly, there is no electronic hatch release to be had on the CX7. Not even an option. Its bigger brother, the CX9, has it tho.

Anyways, I visited your website and seems that you have been using the Camaro Z28. You may want to try the Mazda6 and modify for race. The guys at TriPoint Motorsports have had success in that car. And Jeff Altenburg and Randy Pobst are my favorite. Check it HERE

In the Camaro/Firebird world, there was a common wiring harness for all models. If the optional electronic hatch release was selected, then you got a button on the dash and a solenoid at the latch.

Is it possible that even the 9 and 7 share a similar wiring trunk through the hatches? It's a common manufacturing process to reduce the number of "specific" parts.

I use Jason Saini's shop on occasion to dyno cert my cars. World Challenge is definitely out of my price range.
