Rear ended

Grimace is right. Hidden damage is a killer. Have a thorough estimate done at the dealer and have them price "new Parts". not aftermarket/.. It's a new car after all.

Have them take the cover off and look for damage underneath.
Ie. suppports, crash absorbency stuff etc. If not fixed and you get hit again....not so good. Or if you just tap something and it's your fault, and you end up wioth more damage....you get the idea.

I took the caskha and ran once, and my bumper went on to peel like mad.

From the look of those pictures I would say you got off easy. The way you described it I expected those pictures to be alot worse.

Got out of the car and ask the 17 year old girl if she was alright.

Poor girl though.

you asked her if she was allright?
i would have ***** her ass right there.

you feel sorry for her? what about you. trust
me, she doesn't care about your car. its not her 20k limited
edition car that got ruined.

i guess we need more people like you, i.e. that are nice.
but people need to WAKE THE **** up behind the wheel

p.s. i haven't been on here in a week, so i am excited :D

I wasn't exagerating (spelling) about my story.

When i looked in my rear view mirrow I saw the van coming full speed at me. If i didn't react to get out of the way, I believe the outcome would have been a lot worst. I tried to gas it hard enough to speed out of harms way into the left turn lane but it was too late.

:'(

Lol i guess i'm being too nice to the girl. I believe they will need to claim insurance. $600 is a whole lot of cash to pay, especially if you're a 17 year old.

lol

serves her right!

My beautiful car! :'( noooooo

Going to cry in the corner now.

were here for you bro.
just remember, if you are nice all the time, people will take advantange of you. thats unfortunate but true. i am nice myself untill people do something to piss me off, i hate ripping off/taking advantage of people but from my experience they will turn around and rip you off right there on the spot. don't be too easy on her. make her pay and report it so her insurance goes so she knows not to ******* hit people.

What bugs me about bad drivers is when they tailgate me...I normally drive pretty fast, but I don't live in a heavily populated area, and don't drive during normal peak traffic times. So when someone is tailgating me, I know they are speeding. When people tailgate, I don't think they pay enough attention to what kind of car they are tailgating...Yeah, it might not look like a 2003 BMW, but rear end me and find out how much the damage will cost...I swear, if I had a Geo Metro, I would slam my on my brakes just to make thes fuckers realize how stupid they are. I couldn't do it with my two babies though, cause i don't want to have to see them screwed up...

I dont know what you would put in those stars, but any of the words that need to be starred just sound wrong...

(i.e. i would have F***ed her ass right there.)

so what did you mean? ;)

It is my dream to buy an old '80's GM (like one of those big old Buick tanks) and drive around just hitting people when they do something stupid. Every time I have to swerve out of the way in my MSP, I'll just stay right there in my tank and smack them. Maybe this is related to my dream of being a vigilante... Anyway, I see this as an excellent stress reliever.

same thing happend to me about a year ago .... i had my rear bumper repaired ... and re painted ...... looks like new .... i had two holes in my bumper ...both covered ....looks nice

Got story to add to that...please read

So I'm speeding down the highway in my Grand Marquis, 7:00 at night, not much traffic, but its dark out...and I run into a car in the passing lane going 70mph....a couple cars in the middle lane are going like 69mph, so I had to patiently wait for the car in front of me to pass them before I could go back to speeding.

While I'm waiting, one of those Lincoln Pickup/SUVs comes flying up on my ass. He starts flashing is high beams at me.... I'm thinking, "hello? can't you see that there is someone in front of me?"

Then the car in front of me pulls over a lane allowing me to speed up, I increase to about 75 and just as my rear bumper passes the other car's front bumper and I'm about to put on my blinker the guy starts flashing his high beams at me again!

That is not acceptable. I am speeding, worst case the guy would have to wait another second or two and change lanes himself if I didn't do it by then.

So what did I do??? I slammed, i mean SLAMMED on the breaks and slowed down to 55, then back up to the speed of the cars in the other lane... he beeps at me and continues to flash his lights so i continue for about anther 30 seconds with him trapped behind me and next to the cars in the middle lane. This was very amusing to me as you could imagine.

Then he finally gets impatient slows down swervs over 3 lanes and floors it around all the cars....I took this time to speed up and move over to the middle lane so that when he made his way around the other cars i was out of his way and the cars that were behind him originally were moving along there way in the passing lane.

He didn't like this one bit. He cuts me off, i mean CUTS ME OFF. then slams on his breaks to 30mph. I honk at him and try to change lanes and he changes with me, still laying on the breaks, so i swerve back and he almost causes another car to rearend him...then he floors it and gets off at the NEXT EXIT.

Moral of the story?
******* with bad drivers leads to road rage. What started out as an amusing stunt with an inconsiderate driver, almost lead to a multi car pileup. I'm sure he drove home and bitched about what an asshole driver I was, not even thinking that high-beaming me could have caused me to react like that.

Had I not been a better driver than him, I most likely would have rear ended him during his 'revenge' stunt, but that would have put the blame on me. If it wouldn't have been my fault, i would have gladly rear ended his brand new truck...but it just wasn't worth ruining my perfect driving record for some impatient bad driver.

This happened over 3 months ago and it still pisses me off. Can you report stuff like that to the police?

actually i think the guy in front of you was supposed to move over before you came up behind him but he didn't. also, the truck behind you didn't know if you are traveling at the same speed as everybody else or waiting for the guy in front of you to move. maybe he thought you were just chilling in the left lane. the truck doesn't know if you let the driver in front of you know that you need to pass by flashing your highs( you didn't) thats why he flashed to let you know he needs to pass. while tailgating is certainly not acceptable, by flashing his lights at you he did nothing wrong. a lot of the times i come up on slower trafic in the left lane and people are just chilling there. i flash 90% of the time. GET THE **** OUT OF MY WAY :D

ahh yes, but there is no need to continue to flash then leave your high beams on, and beep your horn...and when I say tailgate, i mean this guy's lights were practically in my back seat.

...and when the car in front of me did get out of the way I sped up to immediatly pass the guy who was 'chillin' in the passing lane. As I was about to politely get out of his way the guy just couldn't wait and had to do it again.

I'm sorry, no one should be in that much of a rush that going 75 in a 65 is too slow for a minute or two. Especially when you're getting off at the next stop. Plan ahead, don't trap yourself in the passing lane when you know you have to get off.

I know the etiquette about flashing high beams. I do it on occasion but never when there is someone in front of the car in front of me, and never when there is no place for the person to go. I always wait until it is clear they don't want to move out of the passing lane before flashing my lights...this guy had two strikes and I didn't give him a 3rd. He flashed his lights when there was no place for me to go, then, just to make sure i didn't forget he was behind me with his high beams on, he flashed me again before it was even safe for me to change lanes.

i hate bitches who flash when its clear there is another car in front of me. even when there is not and i am passing another car and about to change, just like chuyler1. have some ******* patients, I CAN SEE YOU ******, ill get out of the lane in a second.

That being said, when another car comes up on you and there is noone in the lane next to you MOVE THE **** OVER.

people in california know nothing about road manners.

this ends my rant.

I like to screw with people like that too chuyler...and sometimes with the same consequences...that's why it's good to know how to drive defensively. If you're gonna play the game, don't cry if you lose, right?? Like you said, how much are you willing to risk in order to prove your point...I am not willing to risk as much now that I have a new car, but i will never let someone "scare"me out of their way...

it bugs me too when people 'camp' in the passing lane when there are 3+ lanes to choose from. If it isn't busy I don't mind switching lanes and blowing by them, but in any case, they don't call it a 'passing lane' for nothing.

However, to play the devil's advocate, its not right to get the idea that you 'own' the passing lane either. Just because you want to go 85 and other people want to go 70-75 doesn't give you the right to tailgate and highbeam everyone. Just remember that you are still breaking the law at 70mph (in a 65 zone). If they are going 60 in the passing lane that is a completely different story...high beam all you want and get grampa in the right lane where he belongs.

Of course Dennis Leary has a good solution piss off those road hogs... "I drive really slow in the ultra fast lane while people behind me are going insane...I'm and @sshole"

definitly unacceptable what he did tailgating and flashing and flashing. though a lot of the times we take for granted that a person might actually HAVE somewhere to go and needs to get there fast. a lot of the people on the road are simply oblivious to whats going on around them, i mean i see people tottaly ignore police/ambulance/fire trucks when they have their sirens and light bars turned on. don't they understand that that 1 second could allow the paramedics to save somebody. and we don't know where they are going, they could be going to your house to save somebody. god, there could be another 9/11 too and they are in a hurry. btw, i am not defending the truck behind you in no way. its just that sometimes people do need to get somewhere fast. one example last semester i had a class final in one place that ended at 10am. I had another final at 10:30am 40 miles away. so basically i had to cover 40 miles in 25 minutes. nowadays, professors DON'T care what your excuse is, either you take the test on time or don't take it at all. as you might know a lot of the times finals are up to 40% of your grade. YOU CAN"T MISS THEM.
this isn't a life-death situation but it could be graduate now or in 6 months situation with an 'F' in one of the classes because some moron would not move out of your way :)
drive safely everybody. lets use that part of our body that separates us from the animals: brain that actually functions.

I understand your point, there are times when I am truely in a rush, but that does not justify driving out of control. Police, (and probably firemen and paramedics, but I'm not positive) are trained how to drive above the speed limit and know how to predict unpredictable situations, such as people changing lanes in front of them or putting on their brakes when they see the lights.

If this guy's wife was pregnant and in the hostpital or whatever, I would think he would rather get there a few seconds late than roll his suv and never see his newborn.

And realistically, another 10mph faster over an average 20 mile trip is only going to get you there a minute and a half earlier. And that time could be easily lost waiting for a traffic light when you get off the highway. Now a longer trip might yield more significant results, such as my 350 ride from home to college that could take anywhere from 5 to 6.5 hours.

I just want to get some feedback on this: how much do you guys hate people who drive while talking on their cell phones??? I use one too, but I have one of those hands free headsets...Not like i drive with both hands on the wheel, but it is still easier to cncentrate without holding a phone up to my ear...

very true. cell phones do distract. pull over to the side of the road and yap away. a lot of the times i have my phone's ringer turned off in the car so i don't pick it up. i carry a hands free device but i have trouble getting used to it. i hate how it presses on my ear.
