Rear Ended

Got rear ended this a.m. on the way to work at a red light. Turning right at light and I was idling forward. Had to stop to let a car pass and about 3 seconds later BLAM  Rear bumper will need to be replaced and that looks to be about it upon initial visual inspection. I am hoping that no other damage, particularly to the frame, suspension, etc was done considering the car is lowered.

Guy was driving a RAV 4 and there was virtually no damage to his car.

What makes me really nervous though, is leaving the car at some body shop parking lot for a week out in the elements where some guy who could car less works on the vehicle.

Will post pics tonight.

you should just bring it to a mazda dealership and have the dude in the rav 4 foot the bill! my condolences, btw...:(

Yep, happened to me too with a cab driver hitting me, almost exactly the same way. Got lucky, only left surface scratches and a tiny hole in the bumper. I just took the money from it and paid other bills!

Good thing about being rear-ended...you don't have to worry about fault. Its all on them.

Yeah, the damage isn't too bad, but I was looking at the hatch and the little rubber seal that runs along the top of the bumper where the hatch and bumper meet looks like it may have gotten bent inward. Upon further inspection it looks like that is some sort of metal support there that may have been pushed inward. Is that part of the hatch kind of concave as is, or is it straight? I don;t remember. Thanks.

when you post a pic of the damage (the part you are talking about), I'll compare it with my pics of when I pulled the trunk apart for a sound system install. Maybe we can see if it is different. One thing is for sure, this car takes a hit pretty well.
