Rear ended on I-75

I was on my way to an interview this morning in Buckhead. I was stopped, and so was the Durango behind me. The Astro behind her wasn't paying attention and hit her which hit me. When I took a quick look at it, it looked like just some cosmetic damage to the bumper. The Durango and puntured it's radiator and was spewing coolant all over the road. There seemed to be no damage to the Astro.

I still made it to the intervew early.

On my way home, I stopped by at the body shop that's done all my paint work. I wanted to get a quick estimate on the damages. Upon closer inspection, there's damage to the hatch and some frame damage. The gapping between the rear door and body is closer on the passenger side than driver side. So I may have to have the hatch replaced, and put the car on the frame straigtener. Wonder if it'll be considered totalled?

I called my insurance and the said to go through the Astro's insurance company to get money for the damages. If I went through mine, I'd have to pay my $250 deductable. I wonder if I go through their insurance, will they pay for a rental?

Their insurance should pay for a rental for you if your car has to go in to shop for more than a day. When I was rearended and had my rear bumper repainted, I got a rental for about 3 days and went thru their insurance and never had to pay a deductible.

BTW, sucks to hear that you were hit, glad you are OK though.

Just got rear ended on Sunday. I got a rental car out of the other guys insurance for the next week + it takes them to fix it.

The only thing I'm paying is $70 dollars to have all the emblem holes filled before they repaint the hatch lid.

on the plus side they didnt take out the new front lip. But you have rly bad luck with this car its not like anybody can even blame it on you not checking your oil or taking a turn too fast this time

yer not the only one with probs. and at least you have someone elses insurance to work through. i was on chastain last week doing 45-50 and sum stupid asshole pulls out from a gas station right infront of me!! like 20 feet away. i locked up and turned to miss him, and went flying over a 6-7" curb at like 40mph in the air. my left side mirror hit his tail light 9wheich shattered in my car), and my right mirror hit a light pole, and i stopped withen maybe 5 feet of the driverside door of a man waiting at a red light. so thats how close i was to a major wreck. i have 3 bent wheels, crimped charge pipe, dented oil pan, and god knows what else. and the dude that pulled infront of me didnt even stop to see if i was ok, technically for him a hit and run. but there werent any witnesses to stop either so i refuse to involve the ho'lice. im really starting to think this car is bad luck!

When I totaled my 99 Prelude, they sent me a check, and my shop let me take everything that I wanted to keep(to sell), and than the insurance people picked it up. I guess it really depends on the shop.

That sucks man... but I have to say that Danny has you beat(but not in numbers of occurance it seems).

and the worst part is ill never be rid of this car. it takes some hard knocks but somehow always ends up ok and sumwhat fixable. sumtimes i wish it was just totalled and i could just move on to better things. surely not a protege...ever again!

just got off the phone with their insurance rep. Went really well. I just need to get an estimate and get the ball rolling.

Well I have everyone beat......the body shop just called me and my car fell off the lift while they were inspecting it. So needless to say it will be in the shop a little while longer.

Went and got an estimate done. We're looking at $2674.75 worth of damage. Replacing hatch, bumper cover, bumper, and time on frame straigtener.

may I suggest buying a brick.
It's a good investment considering your car likes to commit suicide(and the e-brake is gone).
