Rear end vibration, same symtoms as OnRails*UPDATE*

So got the same vibration, just started happening a month or so ago. Mazda said it was tires because one was a 1/4 smaller OD that the rest....well I needed new tires, so I went and got some 245s and stuck them on there, still vibration is there...I will keep you updated on mazdas response

11/24/2008: Mazda is replacing my entire rear diff and fixing a leaking front inner axel seal. Should be here sometime next week.

wheels not bent, brand new tires. I've also tried stock rims and tires, same problem. my theory is that there is a problem with the rear diff coupler and clutch packs.

mine is doing it too. I have a list of s*** that they need to fix but don't want to.....this could get ugly....

Guys, my rear end just started vibrating on Monday. I hit a pothole and blew a tire, well i put the doughnut on and there was the vibration. I figured it was just the doughnut. But when driving down the highway my 4WD light came on flashing. When the light was on the vibration went away. I checked, when the light was on only the front end was operational. However the light would turn off after awhile and the vibration would come back. Do you guys have the light turned on? It also seemed that when I would come into boost after shifting from 1st to 2nd that sometimes it would..how do I describe it...slip? Felt like an automatic transmission slipping into gear. Any help is greatly appreciated.

no light for me either but it is feeling weird still...You have a light though so you can get yours taken care of. We have no light which makes the service dept act like idiots.......no one knows how to listen to the customer and troubleshoot....

my service dept has been excellent thus far. Right now they are waiting for one of the Mazda higher ups to get back from lunch. Both the tech at the dealership and I believe the problem lies in the clutch pack/rear diff coupling/center diff.

Keep us updated on how it goes and if they you could get the dealership to look at your rear diff?

I know another MS6 owner who was having the same problem.

Good luck

well i know with 4x4 or other awd you can't put a donut on the car either....it will really screw your s*** up....the spare has to be same size....or is the ms6 different

i tend to get a vibration at highway speeds in the rear, is this when you are having problems, or is it all the time?

mine happens around 60 and then again at 85 or so. a quick test is when you feel it vibrating, pull up on the ebrake just enough to have the light go on. does it go away?

Update: Mazda is replacing my entire rear diff along with a leaking front inner axel seal. should be here sometime next week.

If your from Missouri, take your car to Reliable Mazda in Springfield, I can't say enough great things about them.
