Rear Camera Mount

Ok, I have a very tiny camera I'm going to use as a rear camera for seeing behind the car. My Camera is just an eyelash to big for the light sockets and I'm afraid if I disassemble the tail light that water will get in and wreck the camera. My question is:

Any one have any pictures of a rear camera already installed any place besides the tail light or light socket.

hmmm came up with a complete camera system for my roommates car...although he hasn't done it yet I have some ideas for the same application onto a P5. Also have an idea for night vision. One thing you could do which I have seen done before is to mount a small piece of plexigass in the bumper(either a small square or a small circle and then have the camera mounted to the inside of the bumper some wayand looking out the small piece of plexiglass. This may be possible around our license plates or on the lower read valence. Since you already have the camera my other suggestion wouldn't do any good. But I will share it just the same. Basically get one of the X3 cams for 0 Lux or night vision (infrared camera) and then get a LED infrared illuminator. (Note they make full assemblies with the camera in the middle and the LEDS surrounding it all in a small pod) Then mount that to the inside roof of the rear of the car. This would work best if you had tinted windows as you could run the camera without the LEDS during the day and then with them at night. Maybe post some pics of the camera you have and I will see if I can come up with something else.

If anyone is lucky enough to have a Frye's near them, they have a miniature color camera (with Super LED for nightvision) for $40. I believe that price is TODAY only.

Rear Camera

Hey guys whats up, I have my rear colour camera mounted in my keyhole for the trunk. It requires the removal of the key/lock mechanism and a little customisation but it looks awesome and the view is great. I'm using a colour waterproof unit encased in a lexan cover. Email me at lockdownsecurity@hotmail.com for pics.

you could take the rear wiper off and mount the camera in the hole, thats what my dad did on his P.T. anyways it looks pretty tight

Dont' get me wrong here - because I think the camera idea is very cool...but I can't help thinking...what the hell is so interesting back there? And why can't you just look our your rear-view mirror? It's not like you're driving a SUV and sitting 4' high.

howabout just inside the car behind the rear glass either at the top or in a corner or something? i think it makes for easier assembly/ disassembly and wont require you to give up anything or make holes anywhere.

I installed one for demonstration purposes, there really is no actual need for a camera there, I install electronic accessories ( security systems, video, audio systems ) for a living so it works well to demonstrate what is possible with a full video system in the car. I'll try to post some pics when I get back from the long weekend on Monday.

well the need for me comes from my driving down poorly lite back roads. Thus the nightvision idea for me. On my roommates car it is because he is a delivery driver and has been in many accidents and it is always nice to be able to show proof that it wasn't your fault. Plus with some video editing it could make for some great footage after a day at the track. Had a friend suction cup mount his by his front tire during an autcross and fed into the input of a handheld camera. Worked out pretty good but was really bumpy. but why do it on any car. Because you can my friend that is what customizing a car is all about. if you can find a way to make it work and be different and stand out then you can make a name for yourself. That is what installers count on when they produce these wild installs with systems. I mean who really needs 10 tv screens in a 2 door car . Answer nobody but it sure is cool at a show.
