There is no "old one" per se. The current one is an integral part of the bumper (unpainted).
The bumper guard covers it.

Gotcha. So you just stick this over the top part of the rear bumpers. Did you just install it yourself?

Also, is the whole bumper guard chrome? At first look, it seems that the only thing chrome is the thin strip at the edge of the bumper.

The whole protector is chrome.

It is not chromed. It is stainless entirely.
