tryin to change my rear brake pads but cant get the rear caliper piston to decompress. Does anyone know why it wont ? or is there something im not doing? i did remove the brake fluid cap and the e brake is not on. Can anyone help? thanks

Yeah, use the search next time..
But basically, you need to use the allen screw to pull the piston.

Behind the rear caliper there is a bolt (14mm I believe). Take off the bolt and under it there is a key that is turned with an allen wrench. Clockwise pushes the piston forward, counter pulls it in.

How tight, do you guys tighten the screw back in afterwards to make the parking brake work again? My parking brake is now useless. I'm going to try adjusting it again in the next day or two.

tighten (clockwise) so the pad just touches the rotor and then turn back counterclockwise 1/3 of a turn

parking brake doesn't really have anything to do with this adjustment. If you want to tighten your parking brake use the screw by the handle.

That's odd because I tightened it so the pad was just causing friction when turning it by hand, then rotated it back 1/3 of a turn. But the parking brake provides no resistance now. I'll double check that the cables didn't pop free then, I shouldn't have to adjust the cable itself as it was good before.

Um yes, you DO have to adjust the cable as now you have retracted the caliper and the cable is loose.

Also, hope you didn't **** up your rear calipers using the C-clamp method.

Heh, I still didn't get around to adjusting the parking brake cable. Then when I tried it for the hell of it yesterday, it was tight again. So with 50-75 or so miles of driving, the calipers reseated themselves for me, along with the parking brake I guess. I'm not sure if they would have started dragging on me, had I tightened the cable.
