Rear Brake calipers - Need help!

So I bought some new pads and rotors for the 5 today, since one side, the pad was rubbing and makin an awful racket. got everything off, got the new parts, even borrowed the fancy caliper compression tool.

figured it would be a snap to get everything back together.
first off - the compression tool I borrowed from Murray's doesn't have the right size adapter for the caliper, even if it did, I can't get the thing into the piston, cause of the stupid spring wire along the side of the caliper.

This is driving me nuts!! am I overlooking something??
I need to get this thing put back together tonight. Need it for something tomorrow morning.

anyone have any advice???

I usually leave the old pads in the caliper, and use a c-clamp against the back of the pad and the outside of the caliper to push the piston back into the bore.
Maybe pull the cover off the brake fluid reservor before cranking in that piston.
