it is not uncommon to have the left axle seal leak on the speed6. havn't heard of any snapping though, yikes!!

Broken CV

Hey I also Broke my CV rear inner joint LOL. It took a week for the mazda tech not to find it, and release the car back to may car, and there it is all the issue with my AWD just started making noise. OH yeah Thy just voided my warranty today too. the SOB's

Are you saying they TOTALLY VOIDED your warranty because of the mods you have (MSP CAI, Geddy RS BOV, and Magnaflow mufflers) if thats the case i would fight that because mufflers dont cause problems MSP CAI is made by aem/mazda and there bov sucks anyway. I sure hope theres some other factor your not mentioning?

Call 'em & raise hell.
Keep reminding them, it's "zoom-zoom", not "zoom-bang, clatter, can't help ya"

i broke mine. driver side rear. at cv joint near diff. covered under warranty..no. paid $838.00 dollars exactly. they didn't assemble it correctly. my sway bar wasn't connected at the endlink. mazda corp is looking into the issue of them denying warranty without cause. apparently my dealership has been having multiple issues the lady told me. d. dahle mazda of murray utah.

Yep that is the care I have No problem with fixing it myslef, and the sad part was it took me 15 minutes to find the problem (including putting it up on jackstands).

I cant believe people are still suprised to learn their warrenty is voided when they show up to the dealer with mods. Regardless of what the mods are a dealer will most likely void your warrenty. Unless its a mazdaspeed part that has a "green tag" or whatever, mods will void your warrenty.

Off the top of my head, I am pretty sure there are even mazdaspeed parts sold by mazda that say, if you install this your warrenty is void.

Mods = voided warrenty at most dealers. Some are cool, but MOST are not. Be smart and remove them before you go in for warrenty work. If you broke down, pay the extra $50 bucks or whatever and have your car towed home FIRST. Remove your mods then tow it to the dealer. Common sense.

not true at all. a mod CANNOT(legally) void a warranty on an entire car. the only possibility is that a modded part causes another part to fail. that part is not going to be covered.
and the mazdaspeed parts with the warranty are for that part itself. it does you no good to have a mazdaspeed intake versus a AEM/CPE/Fujita/whatever if that part causes a failure of some sort. it just means that if that part fails, its warrantied by Mazda.

its probably still a good idea to remove mods first, though.

You are right about the warrenty thing, thats my misreading of the fine print!

But seriously, any dealer who isnt foolish can and will make an argument that through any modding you have voided the car warrenty. Any changes on how the car was designed can change how it was intended to operate. Even something like larger rims.

The bottom line is that any warrenty work is $$ taken from profit of the car they just sold. Of coarse they are going to fight you for it.

of course they will. they want stock cars because thats how the techs are trained, and more than likely they know that stock cars are driven a little easier. they see mods and panic.

Its more than just stock cars for techs to work on.

Here is my bad example.

Say you buy a house from me. I tell you I will cover the roof of that house for 15 years, if it leaks then I will come and fix it for free.

Well one week after that, you cut holes in the roof and add sky lights. Then the roof leaks. You call me and tell me my crappy roof is leaking and you want it fixed for free.

I would come out and say how am I supposed to know whos fault the leaky roof is? Is it the original roof or the sky lights? By altering the roof without my consent you have voided the 15 year warrenty.

Its the same thing with mods. You are changing something to the car that was not aggreed upon when you bought the car. Therefore, the warrenty is void.

PS: sorry for the thread jack :(

When we change an intake, we are not changing the roof, maybe more like a front door and you want to back out of the roof warranty because we changed the doors?....this is what we are protected against, by the letter of the law.

Shall we never forget the lawyer creed, the law is only as good as the money that stands behind it. Meaning that while you have recoarse in almost every situation regarding voided warrantys, most will surely cost you more than the repair cost. and you might end up paying for both the lawyer and the repair.

Be smart, before you ever do anything to a car with a warranty, know who your dealing with. If your in some far away place with limited resources then you might get stuck with a service manager that likes sticking it to people.

Here's the thing, I've worked with these guys and some of em just get a buzz off of stickin the customer, not to mention bonus monies tied to all of it, doing warranty work is not a loss to the dealer, but its way less profit than doing the same work with a customer paying the tab.

Its not a mystery.
