Details as follows and see attachment:

Great Lakes Lotus Clubs next track event is set for Gingerman Raceway, Monday August 11th J Hopefully youll all consider joining us at Gingerman it will be a great day of driving! As the track may be unfamiliar, I thought some more info might help please see the attached PDF.

In case you cant access the attached PDF, brief details follow:

Gingerman Raceway

Gingerman is a relatively new track, located some 6 miles east of the resort town of South Haven on the west coast of Michigan and approximately 180 miles from Birmingham. In contrast to Waterford it has very friendly run-off areas, the track is wider and the few walls and barriers are set some distance from the track surface. It is a great track for relative novices due to the very high level of safety, but offers significant technical challenge with decreasing radius, complex and sequenced corners which satisfy everyone up to and including advanced drivers.

To get a good overview of the track, see the video (shot from the roof of one Exige, following another) at: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v14894093MBpDwMcY

Registration & Cost

Usual place: registration for the Event is at http://gllc.motorsportreg.com. The event costs $150 for Members (until July 28th) and $175 thereafter or for Non-Members.

Note that membership is $40 and will also give you a significant break on pricing for our Grattan event in the Fall membership can also be obtained at http://gllc.motorsportreg.com

Logistics & Lodging

Gingerman Raceway is approximately 180 miles from Detroit so options include driving out and back in a day, or (much better) drive out on the Sunday night then return Monday night. Gingerman is very near South Haven and other resort areas, so Drivers could also make it a long weekend with a spouse or family J

There are several hotels approximately 6 miles west of the track at exit 20 on I-196, however, these can be expensive in the summer months as South Haven and surrounding areas are very popular resort destinations. Since the track event is just one day, drivers will likely be looking for lodging for the Sunday night the best options are to stay near the Interstate on the way to the track nr. either Kalamazoo (35 miles away) or Benton Harbor (25 miles away). Hotel suggestions are included in the Pre-Event Packet available for download at http://www.greatlakeslotus.com or directly at http://www.autoeuropesales.com/gll/content/PreEventPacketGingerman2008.pdf

Directions & Distance

From Birmingham, MI it takes around 3 hours to travel the 180 miles to the track very possible to travel out and back in a day, but easier to travel out the night before see Lodging above

Gingerman Raceway is near Exit 20 on I-196. From Exit 20, take Phoenix Road East approximately 6 miles. Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...-86.137962&spn=0.155372,0.354309&z=12&iwloc=A

Gee... don't everybody jump at once. (cricket)

I just ordered my Snell M2005 helmet today.

Alright, I just ran through the math... It would cost me $300 before I even got on the track or ate. Way out of my price range man, I spent 3 days at the TOD and spent that and that was including food/gas, sorry! Maybe with a 6 month notice I could schedule it, plan for it and have her warmed up to it by then. LOL...

That's my spending money for my week at the beach, so I'll pass.

How much did the helmet set ya back?

Well, if ya wanna start planning, the next event is a TWO-DAY event, at Grattan Raceway (an hour closer) on October 4 & 5. Unfortunately, two days means twice as much money. Don't know if there are single day options (I think so).

The helmet was $65 shipped from Competition Accessories. Same one Jeg's has for $25 more. (thumb)

And seriously... you're picking the beach over a track day? :wtf: You can go to the beach ANY time.

Sure cant drive that MS6 on the beach even with that AWD. LOL... Grattan is ok, ridden my bike on Grattan. Let us know if you are having a single day deal or is it still the $175 a day? Grattan was only $75 a day last year.

I think it depends on who is planning the event and how many people they expect to show up. If they rent the track for the day, then they have to cover costs. I'll post up more info, as soon as I have it.

Alternately, you can join GLLC for $40, get a discount on track days and borrow one of their helmets! (2thumbs)

Well, I was prepared to be humbled and I wasn't disappointed. Everything I thought I knew about driving fast went right out the window.
Driving fast on the street is completely different than driving fast on a track. The only useful skill I already had was heel-toe! Everything else was starting from zero. I had a couple of "Chris Collins Off-Road Adventures" but by the end of the day, I was able to pass our shop's 265hp white Exige. On the last straight of the last lap. (2thumbs)

Had a great time but it kicked my ass. I'm sore, tired and sunburned. And I have to leave for work in an hour. Happy, though! (drive)

That's awesome, glad you had a good time. Ha, luckily you didn't hit any cable boxes on sharp right turns! Oh, I'm waiting to see some pictures too.

I thought about it and I should have asked... I if they allowed people to just watch should have ridden along and then just photoed all day and shot video. Next time let me know...!

Yeah, spectators are welcome. there's no entry fee or anything. Hell, I probably could have gotten you a ride in the white Exige, even.

It's a 3-hour drive, though. You honestly think you would have been up for it just to watch?
