Real MPG

:
17 CX-9 GT FWD
Just filled up after our 1st tankful,
18.7 MPG 330 miles on tank.
70 % city (short trips), 30 % highway
Should be able to get 24 on highway

What I'd really love to see too is the mpg when using 87 octane. I don't suppose you'd want to write up a review for us on how different the driving experience might be when running on "emergency mode" (bowdown)

Not going to go there with 87 octane. May eventually try some mid grade 89 octane in the winter when it is cooler and octane requirements are lowered.
Second Tank real MPG = 23.2 Wow I'm impressed
6/19 Third tank 70% city short trips = 17.9

Can you provide the % driving in city and highway?

Thanks!

First tank percentages in post #1 above
2nd tank was about 50/50 with my wife doing most of the driving.
We will be taking a 1,400 mi trip at the end of the month with mostly highway
and will report mileage then.

How long have you been driving the car? Mileage should go up after a few tankfuls as most dealers give you 87

17.25 on 6/21

17.25 on 6/21

AWD GT, combined driving in DC area traffic.

I'm typically a heavy-footed driver.

yeah same here. My next car (1-2 years from now) will be either a CX-7 or a M6Wagon. CX wins on hp, but M6 wins on gas mileage so far...

Any more mpg reports? Looking into a CX7, but don't want the typical suv poor mileage.
Got back from our road trip up the California coast on the weekend. These are mostly highway driving with 60 to 78 cruzing speed. Our pace was a comfortable medium drive with no hard acceleration (yet)

Tank # 6 85 highway / 15 city 24.2 MPG
Tank # 7 80 highway/ 20 city 22.5 MPG 7/06/06
Tank # 8 60 highway/ 40 city 22.3 MPG 7/11/06 2,180 mi
Tank #10 40 highway/ 60 city 21.3 MPG 7/30/06 2,900 mi
Tank #11 40 highway/ 60 city 20.4 MPG 8/05/06 3,270 mi
Tank #12 40 highway/ 60 city 21.8 MPG 8/12/06 3,570 mi
Tank #13 40 highway/ 60 city 20.7 MPG 8/20/06 3,880 mi
Tank #14 40 highway/ 60 city 19.4 MPG 8/27/06 4,125 mi

Nice...any more from awd CX7s? I have noticed that mileage seems to improve significantly in the Speed6 w/ break-in and I'm hoping the CX7 does the same.

Mine's AWD, and I've noticed two things about the mpg.

First, It's more an issue of driving style than I thought. I knew, of course, that my aggressive style would take a bite, but not quite so large!

Roads around here have a lot of turns, and manual downshits and "good cornering technique" are killing my mileage. I'm mid-teens when I drive that way.

How many miles have you put on the CX7...any noticeable increase w/ miles? Is it mostly highway or city driving? I was hoping for better than mid teens for mileage.

I'm at 1400. It does seem to be getting better after break-in.

Mileage is LOTS better highway, though I haven't done any acurate measuring.

I'm also finding that the A/C eats mileage more than I thought it would.

We're in the foothills here, with two-lane twisting blacktop. That's most of my driving, and I have fun at it.

The CX-7's handling package and power just make me drive as if I have an unlimited gas supply.

Here's my stats with GT/AWD on mostly country roads (50-55 mph)

Date Miles Gal MPG
6/11/2006 260 13.7 18.98
6/23/2006 291 15.3 19.02
7/7/2006 302 14.1 21.42

Total Avg 853 43.1 19.79

Looking better with each tank !!!!
Bill

That sounds about right. I could probably get the same - if I could hobble my right foot! (drive)

Took the first long trip in the CX-7 this weekend, went to FL, about 1200 miles round trip.
90% highway driving, avg speed between 65-80 mpg.
Averaged right at 24.4 mpg entire trip.
