real deal on turbo manifolds

So there are a few diff. turbo manifolds for the ms3 and ofcourse pg has a well built one they offer. It seems like these manifolds can give a ms3 owner great hp numbers for the money...why arnt more people going with the aftermarket manifolds...does it cause prablems with the ecu? 30 hp for 500 bucks seems pretty good to me..but you dont hear to many people getting these compared to down pipes and intercooler upgrades that are as much or more expensive.

i think 30whp is a liberal claim. i've seen a few b4 and after dynos...it seems like there is a substantial gain in mid-range power though.

im guessing its a time issue. i mean if you do DP & manifold together it makes sense, but it seems kind of like a PITA if you've already done DP...some1 please correct me if im wrong as ive never done a manifold install

A properly designed manifold will provide a much smoother flow of exhaust with a reduced drop in energy to the turbine. The result is faster spooling, which explains the significant increase in mid-range power and probably bottom end to some extent too. Plus, remember that a k04 is pretty well maxxed out near redline in our cars (the reason some guys go bigger), so most gains are going to be lower down.

What about the external wastegate option? Is it worth getting and what is the benefit?

When you start upping the flow through the stock system, you`ll get boost creep because the internal wastegate cannot dump enough pressure quickly enough to control boost levels. The external system doesn`t have this limitation. I would imagine it`s worth it if you make mods that result in unacceptable boost creep. I don`t have extensive mods, so I can`t supply an answer to that question. Maybe the Captain can based on his customers` experiences.

Speaking of which....A manifold that I have alwas been carious about is the one that SteedSpeed is working on. The one you can pre-order on SU for like 700 bucks..Well.............Look what I found on ebay.....ummm local pickup only is kinda wierd..but looks like you might get it supercheap..thats if the manifold is anygood..I have no clue but it looks nice :)

I think its a customer not steed himself... and as for the new version... it can loose power like the first version... it hasn't been dyno'ed yet

I guess that just goes to show the stock one can't be that bad if an aftermarket outfit that designs them for various other cars, has experience in the marketplace, has high tech, CNC machining and CAD design can make one and it doesn't make more power. Was that with a stock K04?

Could be a case where the stock part isn't restricting it that much or it could be something else.

Hm, don't see how it could be all that turbular inside. To me it looks like a better looking version of the stock, but that's it. Don't see how you would get any gains from that. When times come I'm going with PG.

Damn sucks for that customer, he bought 5!

5 Available. Steed Speed CNC machined MZR turbo manifolds. Come with 2 interchangable turbo flanges, 1 stock and 1 T3 style. Complete with external wastegate flange for 38mm Tialsport V-band wastegate.

Its either steedspeed or just some seller that bought up the left overs.
