RE: MSP turbo setup

Just wondering your thoughts about putting a complete MSP turbo system on an es. Is it worth? I'd be getting the turbo, manifold, all oil lines, oil cooler, down pipe, mid pipe, ecu, and I think that's about it. I'd be missing the IC and the air tubing. Do you think $600 is a good deal, only had 4,000 miles on it and is in good condition. Would I be better off keeping the es ecu or should I install the MSP one. Thought please? Your input will help the decision process. I'm looking at getting this early next week so please post your thoughts.

I am not sure what an intercooler costs from a dealer, but I think for $600 its definately worth it. Use the MSP ecu until you can afford something better too.

600, damn thats a pimp deal. get wagner or ION fmic and you will be set. oh and maybe a cai.

You should either get a P5 ECU or keep your own. With all the hesitation, why would you want an MSP ECU?

Joe, hesistation is basically eliminated with the most recent flash (personal experience) - you seem to be not quite up to date about that. I really hate misinformation.

My understanding is that the MSP ECU is also programmed with different fuel and ignition maps because the NA ECU isn't mapped properly for boost. But I don't know what the impact would be running the wrong maps. Kaboom maybe?

uhhh... what about compression ratios? how much boost?
They are both FS-DE engines with a 9.1:1 static compression ratio. And I am assuming stock boost.

wow, thanks for the great responce so far, let's see my engine is stock internals, but I do have the MSP exhaust cam and JDM intake cam waiting. I can't take my car to the dealer to get the msp ecu flashed.
Dirsctspeed, what would you be willing to sell your ic for, I know they are small and inadiquate (hence your upgrade), but it'd be better and nothing, only thing is, I may not be able to mount it in an es, since I have a full sized radiator. I guess I haven't seen any pics of the ic installed on the msp, would it mount correctly in an es?

"I really hate misinformation" god what a chode. He gets all offensive because he has an MSP.
Many people are unhappy with the flash program for the MSP. They say they felt nothing, while others say it made a world of difference. It is hard to say. The bottom line is that the MSP ECU has issues.
BTW the P5 ECU is more than adequate for running boost, because that is what I will be using on my MP3. And I am the one misinformed. Its cool to correct me I dont care, but you dont have to be such a dick!

I think it will fit, but you may need to do some fabricating. Don't you think your better off getting a FMIC?

Hell, I'll buy all that from you for 700. I think he was just saying you could sell those parts for more than you are paying.

Joe, didn't intend that to sound as harsh as it did. I've just been reading a whole lot about the BOV and BPV stuff in the last few days and there are so many contradictions and so much that just isn't true. So many people on these boards post about things they have no idea (not saying YOU I'm saying in general). My personal experience is that the flash helps smooth out the torque curve and eliminates the hesitation, I have to assume that other people who say the flash did nothing didn't get the most up-to-date flash.

I didn't get offensive because I have an MSP, I got offensive because I don't like misinformation. I considered what you wrote misinformation because it directly contradicts my personal experience and the experiences of people I know.

On another note, is the P5 ECU program the same as the sedan? Kopp0041 is going to be putting this on an ES, not a P5. I'd want to be sure.

As far as I know .. the p5 ecu is the same as the es, does anyone know different? Can we contact someone about a part number or something?

Its cool I apologize as well. I am just not so big on the flash, I think it is a weak fix on Mazda'a part, but I am glad it has worked for some including yourself.
I beleive the sedan and P5 have the same ECU they are both 130hp. I thought only the MSP and the MP3 had different ECUs. I know the MP3 ECU is unsafe when boosting, and that is why I will use the P5 ECU.
